How many Magazines?

Mags can be rebuilt as well with parts. Springs do wear out after a few thousand rounds, but can be replaced in most magazines easily.

My deal is 13 magazines per rifle. 6 mags per handgun. If you wear a plate carrier this amount allows you to put 12 mags on carrier and 1 in weapon. With pistols it allows 5 mags on carrier and 1 in magwell. Rule still applies if you have rifles and pistols that take the same magazines. Now As for courses and events I couldn't tell you. And as people have stated they are considered wear items and and replacing them may need to be done in time.

You can never have enough magazines only to little.

For handguns that I shoot on a somewhat regular basis, 6 is a minimum. For ones that I dont shoot that often, ie Walther ppk, p38 I like to have 3 as a minimum. For handguns that are used in regular competition, I would get as many as I can.

As mentioned before, 2-3 for general plinking but if u plan to shoot ipsc/idpa/uspsa style matches at least 5 or more

Guessing you haven't spent much time off the range with that get up.

OP, I'd go with at least 6. Most black badge, competitions, or other courses I've seen recommend a minimum of 5. Always better to have at least 1 spare just in case.
