Yes...at least I used to. When I had alot I mean ALOT of practice when I lived in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan.( jackrabbits/foxes/'yotes)
Greatest warmup/practice for deer season!
Competition used to be fierce in Coderre and Crestwynd for any shootable whitetail...and only if I had too do so....

Now I would not even begin to consider this due to less opportunity to shoot varmits on a daily basis.
I notice a few prairie hunters answering this post.....

I cut some trees with these kind of shots. One of them fell on the road.... not funny.

Amazingly, suppressing fire doesn't work on moose.
Maybe on deer<<<>>>>

Younger bucks, Does and Fawns have a tendency to Bound when running and the airborne theatrics make these animals a little more difficult to shoot on the move. You not only have to figure out the proper lead but your timing has to be impeccable to connect on the up and down movement.

ever seen a mule deer on the move?

I wouldn't shoot at one really givin'er, but a bounding deer that jumps into my scope when I
a) know the country and good sight lines
b) know where the other hunters are

definately!

I've shot a couple that jumped into the glass.

I wouldn't hesitate wih a moose.

Couple of years ago, last day of the season, bullwinkle was bedded down and we stirred him. He never game me a decent shot and just before he went in the bush he ran broadside, real shocker and a bad move.

One shot 180 gr part in 308 and he dropped on the spot at around 275yrds.

That shot on a deer, not unless I had buck fever bad.

While I prefer shots on game that is not on the move, I am not hesitant about taking a running shot if the presentation is half decent. It takes a lot of practice to learn the skill, but it can be done. WE practice on setups that simulate running game right out to 250 or so. I have shot deer, moose, elk and bear on the run, usually they don't go far if properly hit. Regards, Eagleye.

Three falls ago i was on a pipeline just south of Fort Mac and two does came running across the line around 100 yards in front of me. After they cleared the pipeline a nice little 3x3 started crossing the line on their heels at a good trot. Not a full out bounding tail in the run mind you but a very decent trot which still makes me proud that i mad that shot offhand.

My first deer was shot on the run, and full out run, about 80 yards with a 30-30 with open sights when i has 15.

If the animal is running then I have failed in my stalk.

I only shoot when I am 100% that my first shot will be a fatal one, so, with biting my tounge in regaurds to the machine gunners....

so, no, I wouldn't shoot running big game.

that being said I have hit a bear on the run at 270ish yrds. it had been hit well once before and wasn't going far, but as I was on crutches, and my buddy was going to pack it out, the further it ran the more beers he was goign to need later ;) directly behind the shoulder, and it piled up. bet it thought I was shooting a shortmag ;)

There are very few out there who can reliably hit a running deer, ####, half the hunters out there can't hit a stone still standing deer at a hundred yards, let alone one with the afterburners kicked in. I've seen and heard the guys who yap about the running coyote and deer they have shot, some at incredible distances to boot, I've seen many of these guys in action and the results are dismal but they never seem to remember to brag about those shots.

my first was a big doe 4th day of the hunt in a full out run, we were disappointed at the lack of deer in the area for a few days and needed to stir the camp up, I had the shot, led it and fired, one 00Buck out of an auto 5 at 70 yards had a 6shot pattern as tight as my fist in her lungs she dropped 125 yards later with no trace of blood til we found her on the trail coming back, sights were on and led the shot I thought at first I missed but than the radio call came back that a doe was down, it was a great feeling.
