I tried to google any information whether you have a cap limit for registering and owning (not as a Collector) restricted firearms. Any practical thoughts you would like to share?

Officially there is no limit, but certain buying patterns largely related to the rate of acquisition (eg buying a large number of the same gun) will trigger a call from the CFO or small investigation. I'm sure there are some interesting experiences out there on the subject.

I've heard about this. I'd be curious to see what different members's experiences are. I've heard, 10, I've heard 20 before you get the call.

I'm at 8 so far with no calls.

There is no set rule that once you reach a certain number you get called. The cfo has the power to investigate you once you acquire 10...well let me rephrase that. The cfo can investigate you at any time whether you have 1 or 1000. But at 10 you are on their radar (sort of speak), therefore they will start keeping a closer eye on you...that doesn't necessarily mean you get called right away.

Urban Legend - I talked to CFO and he confirmed there is no special number

If you are slowly amassing a collection it probably won't trigger any interest even if pretty big. If all of a sudden you buy 20 Glock 17s, that is unusual activity that warrants an investigation. If there is nothing in the law or regs, it means the CFOs have a far amont of discretion.

I bought several restricted m1 carbines at 1 time and no calls or questions asked this was a few years ago

One guy bought like 54 handguns over a period of like 8 months before anyone looked into it. Turned out he was selling them to criminals...

No calls yet. Although the OPP did offer a proper security audit of my location.
