Hey Guys,

I am just wondering about the durability of this rifle and the action your rifles have had. I want to know what problems you have encountered after putting heavy rounds on the rifle. Things like:

  1. What Parts Had A lot Of Wear?
  2. What Parts Broke?
  3. Has Any Wear Affected Accuracy?

My Rifle has 2000+ on it and the only wear I have seen is on the piston head above the gas port. I am just realizing that I have not tinkered too much with it other than swapping stocks. Other than that it has been shot with iron sights. I want to know milestones and an estimated life for the parts and rifle in general.

Your feedback is appreciated.

I have about a case in mine, used at the range, and in the gravel pit. Was also used as my go to hunting rifle last fall (3days a week in the bush entire hunting season).

Finish is fairly worn out. Grey finish on barrel is marked up and chipped.
Forearm finish is done, wood/glue or whatever it's made out of is chipping.
Stock held up better, but has some wear, no chipping yet, but a dent and scratching.
Grip has a good dent.
1 mag hasn't worked since the day i recieved it(spring issue), not really an issue because I have 7 others that do work.

No broken parts.
No wear affecting accuracy.
Nothing to ##### about really. Really happy with this rifle. Plan on getting some new wood in the future. Plan on buying another CZ858-2 in the future.

Note that I dont baby my rifles, this rifle has been beat up pretty good and is going strong.

Only had one problem with mine so far and that was on the bolt carrier. I broke a peice of metal that strips the round from the clip and chambers it. Call wolverine and sent them the broken part. 1 week later back in action. No problems since and loven it!

Jimbobob:

It seems like yours has more exterior wear than anything, your round count is quite low still. Nice to hear it can handle the physical abuse of a bush gun. Did you nab anything with it?

Satain:

Did you break the piece of the carrier on your own or did it happen while firing?

i have two, about 750 each, one experience gremlin (fixed by wolverine) and the other is perfect , no issue. love em.

~750 rounds of corrosive ammo, thoroughly cleaned after each use. No rust in barrel, no broken parts. Only a couple of malfunctions in ~750 rounds. Small chip in paint on the outside of bolt - must have smacked something. Couple of small marks on receiver from cycling action with bolt assembled wrong - totally my fault.
Chrony'd some of the surplus ammo to test out new Chrony. Very consistant velocities.
I love my 858!

As the poll shows the majority of people are are under 1500 rounds. From the sounds of it there is a lot of life to these rifles. I am interested to see what the upper limit is. I just bought my third crate of ammo and I don't think it will last long.

:50cal:over n 2 cases through mine awsome gun never stoped and can still hit the gong at 200m 5out of 5.

Man you need to teach me how to shoot! All I can do is 2 maybe 3 out of 5. If you are at poco on this weekend look for the nut blasting the .50 cal and show me how it's done please.

have about 6000 rounds down the pipe so far.broke the return spring on the gas rod.and today i broke the breech lock.that was all my doing though.i dropped the bolt group and ding it broke.the spring well i dont know it broke in half and packed up under the rear sight mount.otherwise tough rifle keeps chugging them out the barrel.

the 100 dollar parts kit from wolverine have the breech lock in that kit anybody?

3 cases through mine, then I krink'd it, so far half way through case #4,no issues and have not cleaned it yet,I just pull through and spray down (the gunsmith did wipe some of the goo out when performing the krink job). No damage to any component of the rifle but have thrown out 2 flash hiders that were heavily rusted and definitely not made to withstand any heavy use. All original parts, so far, I am sure I will be trashing at least 3 magazines soon as they are pretty gouged up from being dropped, thrown, stepped on, etc from range drills.

Do you have pics of it?! I'm sure we would all love to see it.
