How many rounds do you go through per range visit?

250 rounds every two weeks, rain or shine.

Range session usually involve one cold F.A.S.T., a Dot Torture target, two or three 10 round, 25 yard groups on a B8 and one F.A.S.T. at the end of my session. The middle I fill with structured drills to achieve whatever it is I'm working on at the time.

I generally only shoot pistols these days, and have been averaging one session with my AR every 6 months or so, shotgun maybe once a year.

I dry fire daily, which supplements my lack of actual range time. Hands down it's the most important training I do and has kept me progressing over the last year.

1000 rounds a week would be fun. But man, if I did that and still couldn't shoot a Glock, I'd be doing some serious re-organization of my time at the range.

Do all you guys reload?? Just averaging the round count from all the posts, I'm seeing at least $100/ visit if not reloading. That's in the $4-500 a month range! I shoot maybe 200 rds. assorted a month. The cleaning and the cost is what's holding me back! I HATE cleaning guns! If I shoot one round, I have to clean the gun. My OCD nature!
Judging by the posts and drills done, we should all outshoot regular cops and soldiers! On our own dime!

I reload 9mm for about 15 cents per round, so that helps.

As for cleaning- (I have a brother with OCD, so I have some understanding), apart from your OCD, you do not have to clean your pistol after every use unless you're using surplus corrosive ammo. It simply isn't necessary. I haven't cleaned either my .22 or 9mm in months.

Usually 250 to 300 rounds regardless if I'm shooting handguns or rifles. All my rifles are semi's so its not that hard.

I don't reload so each range trip costs on average $100. (Don't shoot much rimfire). I figure that's not to bad for a few hours of fun. Other activities like golf can cost you just as much depending on where you play so I don't feel bad.

centerfire handgun anywhere between 300-1000 per range trip usually 500
rimfire handgun 300-500 per range trip usually 500
rimfire rifle 150-500 per range trip usually 300
centerfire rifle 50-1000 per trip. usually 500

A thousand a week, large rifle. Sometimes one or two hundred 12g loads. Rimfire is hit and miss, don't always bring it.

on my handgun past 150 to 200 rounds and I'm too fatigued for it to be anymore constructive.
on my AR or Tavor past 50 to 100 rounds standing (not bench rest),I am done for the day.

For general practice with my handguns (CZ Shadow, Norc .45, and GP100) I bring 100 rounds for each and will generally shoot 50-100 with each.

For my rifles, I usually bring a couple with me. I'll shoot 50-100 through the .22, 50-100 through the AR, and 60-80 through (one of) the M305.

I go every 2-4 weeks depending on work, the weather, and the length of my errands lists. If I go with restricteds it pretty much eliminates any chance of going further down the road (more shops (gun shop and otherwise) and variety are 20 minutes past the range).

I buy almost all of my ammunition in bulk so 1) it's cheaper, and 2) it's already on hand so the cost is decoupled from the use. The drawback is that that surplus rifle ammo ain't necessarily the most consistent stuff to be had.

Cheers,

last time, brought a few hundred rnds for the rilfes and about 75 for the 12g. only used a small amount as the weather took a turn for the worse. Usualy I bring 1-200 rnds for each rifle and 50-100 for the shotgun. Dont know how many i will bring for the pistol once i get my permission slip, but i would expect 50-100 rnds depending on my plans. For the kids, I usually bring about 500.
