How many rounds do you shoot before cleaning your M14?

I modified a 223 and 308 case to fit a hose to fit the Wipe-out can. After the range I place the rifle in the gun vise and give it a shot of foam, run the rod and patch in the morning. It is usually pretty clean after that.

Wipe out has to be one of the best cleaning solutions out there.

I love that stuff!.

as an added it is ALSO a good idea to run a DRY PATCH through the bore BEFORE USE-
that way you take some of the fouling left behind from the last pass out and you also verify there's no nasties in the bore- we were always told your last patch was lightly oiled- but that also sends your first shot or fouling shot kind of "funny" in terms of trajectory

I clean my guns twice a year wither they need it or not. I bought them, they didn't buy me you see. You know what else? With non-corrosive ammo, that's plenty of cleaning. Then again, I'm not a guy who wants to drive 5 rounds thorough one ragged hole. So long as my guns are squarely in the "kill" zone, then that's good enough for me. Guns are for the most part tough, well built tools, don't baby them I say.

I would hope that you clean the bore more than twice a year. If course this would be ok if you fire it every couple days or so or live in Arizona or some similar dry climate. But if you live in a humid climate then that bore will draw damp and rust with powder residue.

Strip cleaning of action a couple times a year is ok by me, but treat the bore with respect.

I do not respect the bore. I HAMMERTHATMOTHA'! I bought it, it's made out of good steel, it's chrome lined. If it can't take it, then it's WEAK, and must be taught a lesson! Jeez fellah's it's a GUN. It's NON-Corrosive ammo. It's a CHROME barrel. It's designed to have the crap kicked out of it, and ask for seconds. :D

metal doesn't think.

I'm surprised you guys clean your rifle so often
Yes I will run some G96 into the bore about every 120 rounds, but detailed cleaning? no way!
especially if the rifle is bedded, which I intend to do in the next hours

I clean all my guns after every range trip - be it .22 or .45 and everything in between... but then again ... I LOVE TO CLEAN MY GUNS! Makes it....personal! LOL! Sometimes I will take a particular firearm to the range - fire 20 rounds (just to get it dirty) - then take it home and give it a good go. Even if I havent fired them in 6 months, they still get a good clean and coat of oil. Gotta love all the girls evenly...
