Am I legally restricted to 5 rounds in a semi auto shotgun being used for 3 gun matches ?
The magazine of your shotgun is restricted to 5rnds. No matter what game your shootin'.
Some models can be "ghost loaded" so you may be able to start with 6.
Depending on the match rules you may be able to start with 7.
5 in the mag, one on the lifter(ghost loaded) and one in the chamber.
Ok.........Im not trying to be a smart azz, Im fairly new to this game. If my 870 can hold 4 in the tube and if I buy a +3 mag extension that puts 7 in the tube and one in the chamber for a total of 8. Am I cooked or did I miss something here ?
In your first post you asked if you were limited to 5 rounds in your semi auto shotgun.
Now you mention the 870... The 870 isn't a semi auto so mag cap isn't restricted to 5.
Now if your not asking about the "law" and just want to know the rules of the game...
Find out first which 3gun game you're playing...
Individual match rules can vary.. Some let you ghost load some don't. Some stages will only allow you to start with a certain number of rounds loaded..
It all depends... Then there's the division your shooting in. Division rules match to match might dictate mag cap.
Bottom line is.. If you're shooting a pump... Get the longest toob you can. Better to have and not need than to need and not have..
If you're shooting a semi.. Learn to reload quick and smooth and you'll stil beat the average pump shooter...
And if you go hunting, it's only 3 no matter which action.
