I was shimming the M14 gas cylinder this evening and to get it to tighten at the correct position I had to put in about a milimeter's worth of shims. Will this move the alignment of the gas cylinder and the hole in the barrel too far for the action to cycle?

If it's too far what is another solution? Do I have to remove the flash hider and stone down the lock thingie a few thousanths of an inch?

 :runaway:

Once shims are in, gas lock timed.....look down the gas port.....with a flash light lighting up the barrel.....if the port is a nice round hole....you're set.

If not.....try flipping the gas lock around and try and spin it on the other way, usually their is up to 90* difference in lock up

Thanks.

Now to get that horrible flash hider off. The last one I tried didn't come off. :(

If I can't get the flash hider off I'll weld a larger handle to the op rod and call it a modernized K-31. Look for it in the E and E section. ;) :)

Far away in the distance, the moans and cries of many a Norc M14 owner is answered by the buzzing whirl of a saw. :D :D
