How many shoot one of these Rem 40x

I was thinking around the 1000 range. Preferably a little less if at all possible but I dont think it is. Also the factory sights arent really needed for me.

Let me know if Im nuts.

Thanks

TRX you thinking is just fine, good luck, will PM you if I find another,
I looked a pristine Walther on Sunday at a show $895 there a nice 22 as well

Dave fellow at range said that the Remington couldn,t hold a candle to a 54 anshutz, ??
there is a couple guys shooting 52 winchesters pretty good but they don,t shoot any better than my 540 remington both about the same.
this 40x will shoot tighter than the 540 rem

This guy at the range does not know what he is talking about. I owned a couple of 54 Annies, and neither of them could shoot with my 40X. Close, but the more targets I shot with them all, the more apparent the "edge" of the 40X became. This is not denigrating the Anschutz, BTW. Fine shooting rimfires. Just couldn't compete with my Suhl or my 40X. You shouldn't have too much trouble with most stock 52's. I still have a 52C sporter, though. good shooting iron, but at a serious competition for light barrelled rifles, I bring my 541S or early T. Regards, Dave.

I am helping a widow sell her late husband's 40X collection. The 22 is sold, but there are a number of others. None were shot very much and some look almost unused.

All the 308's got donated to the ORA.

Left is a 22-250 barreled action (now SOLD) , a 243, a 222, a 6x47 and a 30-338Mag in a Roberston stock being built as a F Class rifle. All are single shot.

She is asking $1000 each, except $700 for the barreled action.

It is shocking how many shooters do not know what a 40X is and ask how it compares to a Savage.

There is a nice 40x with mcmillan stock and lija barrel? I am honestly looking for one in an original stock preferably. Its a little out of my price range at the moment as well. Nice rifle though.

40x at 50 & 100y

Got out to range tonight to try this old 40x at 50y and 100y
There was a light breeze when I shot at 50y not as tight as Eagleye's 40x had one nice group and nut behind bolt got loose first target.
There was lighting off in the distance when I was putting a target up at 100y
and when I got set up to shoot off bench there came that dead calm before a storm and was able to shoot a couple groups with a different lot of Eley 10x it was from the early 90s. all five shot groups, friend measured with his calipers but he was out on size of groups they where bigger but I was pleased

Some good groups manitou. You've got to love it when those groups form up like that. Makes me look forward to my next range session.

Would like to hear of anyone else shooting a 40x and there thoughts on these old Remingtons

Yea, that's a 722/40X rimfire as they're called. I have a feeling you could probably count the number of those on one hand in this country in that condition. Fantastic find!
Frankly, I just don't see any 40X rimfires around. Lot's of Annies and BRNO's.

If things work out I might get one of those Stiller Copperhead actions next winter and do a custom. I'd still be cheaper than a Rem custom shop and less waiting time. They are a 40X clone with smaller port and dual firing pins.
