How Many Sks's Do You Own????????

Ultra-rare 05 year Sniper Variant on the bottom. With special 'dual barrel locking devices', pinned AND threaded, wow! Likely used by special VC sniper teams, but haven't totally nailed down it's history. Did Red China have a factory called Choate back in the day? I think 05, is Chinese for 1967. Anyway, I paid about $100 for it in 2005, what a bargain, I can only imagine what it's worth now. At 75m, it makes a fun clay popping gun, hits what you point at.

It sorta has a 'two stage trigger', but it is very stock. You can pull to just release prior to releasing the sear where the trigger hits some sort of notch, if you relax the trigger the action doesn't reset. You can go to lunch and leave it ready to go on the hair trigger. I assume it's a sniper mod thing, probably a Chinese set trigger developed with the assistance of Soviet advisors (where was Simonov living in 67 anyway?). When the story is complete, you may see it on the Black Rifle EE at a somewhat negotiable price. Historic ID advice welcome in the meantime.

As was mentioned time to get the wife her pal...

all 4 are different.. 1 is in pieces.... one has a scope one is in a Dragonauv stock and the other with a sling is HERS... She's gotten to the point where at about 100 yds she can hit a 4x4 target.... She thinks the gun is pretty good and for a girl who was terrified of them when I met her I'll let her think it's hers... After all I have a few others to choose from...
 
SKS was used in the battle of berlin.

1 Chinese, brand new. Obviously I haven't cleaned alllll the grease from it's originaly shipping state as it tends to "slam fire" once in a while. (Shoots bursts)

Quite honestly, I don't know if I want to fix that problem!!

it will take 5 min to fix, take the bolt apart and clean with solvent, use a q-tip where the firing pin goes, be careful not to replace the firing pin upside down, the firing pin should rattle freely....oh , dont use commercial ammo(if you are).

and if you dont want to do that then send the rifle to me and i will clean it for you but i will keep it, :D:D:D.

for xmas present (to-self) i got a yugo m59/66 and a SKS-D , the 2 new acquisition joins a chinese 1960s and a russian to complete a set.:dancingbanana:
 
I've got two Norincos (an older one that I purchased 12-15 years ago that might be military and a new mixmaster from SIR) plus one as yet unfired Yugo M59, that I've yet been reluctant to shoot with corrosive ammo.

Though I haven't tried the Norc from a fully supported benchrest position, it does look as though it would probably group at around 3 MOA and is sufficiently accurate enough to enhance my skills in various offhand and other field shooting positions. I would not hesitate to use it for deer within 100m and suspect that with more dedicated practice (too many guns and so little time) it could suffice out to 150 with its issued sights.

Though my CZ 858-2 has relegated these rifles to the backseat as of late, I think that everyone should have one or two SKS. Though I'll be busy this upcoming year sighting in and hopefully mastering a mix of mostly older, bolt action milsurps that I've been collecting over the past 12-15 years, I'll probably acquire some brass and dies to really test my SKS's abilities next season.

An M59/66 would have been nice, but I've been so accustomed to buying milsurps in the 100-200 dollar range that it has taken me some time to overcome my denial and admit that most are climbing above that price!
