I have four at present, but am going to purchase another 4-5. I found a place in the states that sells some lower end models for $40. They aren't the best but they work, and it gives me the option to have lot's of stands.

Dave.

I hate those strap/chain on stands. Uncomfortable, and downright dangerous. There are a few that are 30+ feet high on some public land I hunt and I have no idea how someone could sit up in one of those things. Any higher than 20ft and I can't stand being up in one. I like to build solid stands out of lumber between 3-4 trees. With a railing. I like to setup 2 per smaller property so I can pick and choose depending on the wind. This year I had a total of 2 portables, 5 fixed, and one ground blind.

Me and my bud have a few that are placed for different wind directions.

Unfortunately the wind often changes in their favour while sitting in the darned things.

I do have one favorite spot that never seems to fail no matter where the wind is blowing.

Its on a ridge overlooking swamp and higher ground where they come out before hitting the fields..:D

That one stand would do me for the rest of my life!!.. Its such a great location.:)

here at home i have 100 acres and have 2 climbers, 4 permanent wooden stands, a tripod single swivle seat, 2 double ladder stands, 4 single ladder stands and 3 blinds. at the other 3 farms that we have access to with a total of 400 acres and all 3 farms are together we have 3 perm wooden stands, couple of blinds, a big tripod with blind, couple of climbers and 14 single ladder stands. it's a little overkill but we're able to move around keeping wind in mind. there's 6 of us that hunt these properties during shotgun and muzzleloader, but only 3 of us hunt during archery. some stands we haven't sit in a year or two, we do check them all in summer. we buy all of our stands in the U.S. usually a couple a year.

Since I can only be in one place at a time I don't generally put up more than two stands although I do own several including a couple of ground blinds.
I really think you could drive yourself nuts trying to figure out "where to go when" if you deploy more than a couple of stands at a time.
I will try to find up to two good locations, each allowing for different wind directions and maybe taking into account whether a given location is a morning-only place, an evening-only place or both.
To me one of the key things in deer hunting success is to patiently stay put for a few days in one prime location and if this doesn't pan out then I will spend some mid-day scouting time to find a new location and then move my stand over to there.
If you have more than two stands placed then I don't see how you can do much justice to your site selection.

I have two tripod stands (useful particularly in willow runs or other places lacking in good trees), two pop-up ground blinds, and three ladder stands one of which is a double-seater for either more room to put your coffee down or for two people. With this array I have a lot of flexibility as to cover and terrain but I sure don't try to use more than two at a time. In fact usually I'm only using one for a few days at a time.
If you use too many stands and shifting between them then you are not giving any of them much of a chance to pay off.
There may be other opinions (there usually is if I know GunNutz lurkers) but this makes sense as far as I am concerned and I have been successful at deer, moose and elk hunting for too many years.
I hope this is helpful.

I have 3 out right now and will be adding 4 or more this year. I make mine like an out house, no hole though.

Much of where I hunt is on private land, 1 quarter sec is mine, and 1 3/4 sections belong to my neighbors. I have six permanent wood stands built into the trees. Each year the game likes to change where they like to cross.

We have 6 tree stands, 2 ground blinds and one wooden platform built against a tree on property that is around 95 acres of bush, 5 acres open land.

I only use one stand. With kids, its hard to spend the money on myself for my hobbies...I wish I had more, but I do just fine with the one.

Ain't that the truth.

I have 3. (Kids)

...and one ladder stand.

(I might build some new ones in the summer though)
