When you compete in 3-gun;

When you step up for a stage, and wait for the buzzer;

How much pistol, rifle, and shotgun ammo are you carrying on your person?

Loaded for bear as they say. I load out "tacticool" I run a chest rig with 6 Lars, 5 pistol mags and whatever shotgun rounds I may need plus a few.

The load out changes every stage. Carry the amount needed to complete the stage plus some extras. If the stage needs 15-20 rifle I bring 30. As for shotgun plan incase you drop a few shells on the move. Once you drop it it's gone.

As much as I can physically carry in order to intimidate both my competition, and the targets.
Shock and Awe!

As above, it depends.

Anyone else interested in seeing matches where competitors are not permitted to change their belt / chest / drop leg rig setup over the course of the match? Anybody try this approach?

I swap my setup around all the time, because it is a huge advantage to not carry gear you don't need, and I want to win. But what about the "spirit of the sport"? (if there is such a thing ;))

I mostly just show up for the cake and coffee. Sometimes they have pie as well....

But all kidding aside, everyone here is right. Load for what you need to complete the stage, plus a few. The stage will usually contain a round count; if not, you can do a manual count and add a few for dropped rounds, bobbles, misfires, etc....

30-30-(8+5)
3 LAR
3 pistol
8 shotgun on the belt and 5 on the gun.

I've only ever been short on the pistol in the states where they laugh at my 10 round pistol mags.

Wrong question! Its not what should you carry, but what kit should you be prepared to carry if the stage requires it.

You should be prepared to carry (doesn't mean your going to have to carry it)

Pistol 40 rds
Rifle 40 rds
Shotgun 25 rds
