How Much Ammo Do You Keep On Hand?

I subscribe to the 'sum lots' theory of most things......

"If some in good, Lots is better"

And powder...... I have 'enough'..... :D

:D

Pretty much "sums it up"

Was just reorganizing my reloading den last night, had to move everything into a larger room:p. Dug out a bunch of stuff that was out in my shop. Pretty good shape, over 10k total bullets, same for primers, one chest of primed and prepped brass, need to build another powder magazine.

Should keep me busy over the winter.

Lets just say, I could hunt and practise at normal rates for the next 30-40 years and not run out. I'm set for life, but still load more "just in case". The exception is shotgun ammo with steel shot for waterfowl, I only have about a five year supply of that.
I like having "enough" on hand. Makes me feel prosperous.

I have 100 rds for everything I shoot. Each one has its own box and particular ammo. I have thousands of brass per calibre.
5k LR primers (and adding another 1k every month til I have 20K)
2k Shotgun primers
Plenty of powder
500 wads
Plenty of bullets and shot (various sizes)

The amount onhand is dependant on the "supply and demand".

Demand is based on how much I'm shooting.

Supply is how often I need to replenish based on the demand, and the available sources.

I like to keep between 2-5K onhand for each regularly used caliber.

For .22 LR, that's usually about 10K.

Ish.

I stock up in the fall/winter, and shoot through the summer months mostly, so my supplies are actually down a bit right now, but I've been working up some .223 from the onhand supplies. (1200 rounds assembled in the past week, another 1800-ish to go, 2 different lots, one of 62 grain plinker ammo, the other of 77 SMK match ammo.)

YMMV, but I'm re-building my stocks a bit this winter....

NS

Dumb question, I know. :D

I took up reloading at the beginning of this year and am at the point of having well developed loads for several rifles. Two are my hunting rifles, a BSA in 6.5x55 and a Ruger M77 in .338 Win Mag. I don't shoot these much outside of hunting now that load development is done. Given that I don't use them much, loading a big pile of ammo seems stupid.

So, what do you guys keep loaded for your less used rifles and why that amount?

Thanks,
Mark

For my hunting rifles, I usually work up a few loads and then I will load about 100 rounds of the different loads each. Then I work up some practice loads with less expensive bullets, and load lots and lots. I liek to shoot my hunting rifles all year round.

.223 I shoot quite a bit as it's cheap and easy to shoot, so I always have a few hundred rounds loaded (about 500 or so) I load the .223 practice ammo on a progressive press.

I don't reload.........yet.

But on hand right now:

3000 .22 LR (various brands)
1000 JHP 9mm (various brands)
500 FMJ 9mm (various brands)
500 .12 ga (various brands)
250 .45 ACP (various brands)

Actually, I think I need to go ammo shopping.
