How much ammo does a person have to carry for most courses of fire? Its tough to tell, watching americans with full capacity mags they dont need much on there belts, but up here with mag restrictions I wonder how much I need to be able to pack along.

Thanks.

I prefer to have a little extra because issues happen.
On my belt I always have 2 pistol mags, two AR pistol mags and 20 shotshells.

All 3 guns get loaded from my dump pouch so my belt is always full at the start.

If you load from your belt and then replenish from your dump pouch you get an extra round of practice.

Load to capacity, you never know when a yard sale could happen...
Generally I carry 40 rifle (4 LAR mags), 30-40 Pistol (3-4 Mags) and 24 shotgun rounds in 3 carriers.
Flexibility can be helpful with some stages which is why I use the TMMS system.

Depends on the CoF.

We tell people up here to be prepared to carry at least 30 rounds of pistol and rifle, and 25 of shotgun, in addition to what's in the guns.

Keep in mind, you probably won't need it all on the one stage but all it takes is one dropped mag to fubar your plan.

4 ten round pistol mags.
4 ten round AR mags.
16 shotshells set up for quads.
Extra shotshells in a pouch, just in case.

None of this includes what's loaded in the guns at the start signal.

Matches should post stages well ahead so you can plan.. things like single shots to close targets to add ammo for long range misses.. optional targets.. long distance slugs.. etc.. you may need to reconfigure your belt stage to stage..

I have a chest rig with 20 shot shell, on my belt I carry max 4 pistol (9 rounders) and 4 ar pistol mags. Again that all depends on the stage. I may carry an extra 6 slugs on the stock of the shot gun. Some times we have stages mixed shot shell and slugs.

I too carried similar to this when I used to compete. All on my duty belt.

Since I wasn't winning, if I needed more I'd simply store it in a pocket or drop pouch.

I think I had 4, 10 round AR's.
16 shotshells (room to expand with drop pouches if needed)
5 pistol mags (8rds with my 1911).

I was good for 95% of the stages.
