How much ammo should i have

If are in college or school of any type your money can't be limitless.

1/. Living expenses
2/. School expenses
3/. Got a couple hundred in reserve for surprises?
4/. You decide what your social life looks like...beer and pizza with classmates, or a girl/woman, or trigger time. Any money not required for 1/2/3 can be considered discretionary.

Don't forget you may have to relocate to a job after graduation...which will also require money.

Played this game...shot IPSC while in school. Lots of meals out of parents fridge.

all my beer and pizza money goes to trigger time :) its hard when you have 19 calibers to buy for

so! i am a college student and i am going to the "big city" aka Calgary for school shopping annnnnnd well lots of gun shopping! i was looking to see what you guys think is a good amount of ammo to have on hand for each caliber?.

How long are you going to live, Boy? (That was the answer someone I know got when he asked an old veteran guy about how long his PTSD was going to last.)

Minimum of 1000 rounds per firearm if you're shooting them and want to be able to outlast a temporary shortage. Then when the shortage gets really bad you stop shooting and still aren't completely dry. I would tend to exclude shotguns from that, but your choice.

NRCAN regulations allow for 220kg ( i think correct me if I am wrong) Net Explosive Quantity (NEQ). NEQ is just a part of the total weight of a round. So 220kg NEQ is a start and after that build an external bunker for another load.

I buy bulk packs of 300, 500 or 1,000; depending on the calibre. I paid 39¢ per round for .223 as opposed to 50¢ for 20s and 100s. I may try ordering from AB next time to avoid HST!

I think it depends on how much you shoot. If you can afford $400-500 for a case go for it. I would definitely buy enough so I don't have to again for several months.

Also, if there's a REALLY good deal going I would buy as much as possible.

Works out to 142,352 rds of my warmer range load .44mag for me. Gonna need a bigger shelf.

A life time supply. The price of ammo will not be getting any cheaper and in the future will get harder to find. I bought a 5mm in the '70's and could feed it for $15.00 a brick, now the last brick I managed to find cost me $300.00 a brick.

All you need is about 1,000 bullets, powder and primers for each calibre. Reloading sets you free on the endless search for the best priced ammo. And how much of it.

Buy it when you see it cheap and you will never feel bad over paying
perfect example the last 2 years with 22lr ......i have still about 6000 rounds
and havent had to pay the ridiculous prices ,,,and it seems to be starting to back off
as im starting to see some stock showing back up still a little pricey but before i need any things should be back to normal

Yeah...no. Reloading is great for many things but anyone expecting to save a significant amount of money over retail for most ammunition is going to be greatly disappointed.
