But I am not illegal ... I entered USA with their permission. I am a visitor from a friendly county. I believe I should have more rights. (Although I know you are probably right.) I doubt we treat USA citizens like that in Canada.

You'd be surprised. I was driving a car my friend in Rochester brought up a couple weeks back. We were just cruising along at the same speed as both the car infront and behind us were. When we passed a radar trap the cop sped out, passed the car behind us, and tailled us for at least 10 kms. You could tell he was just itching to pull us over for something. Eventually he gave up and went back to his trap. I can just imagine what kind of hassle I'd have had on my hands if he searched that car and found my (registered) rifle and shotgun in the truck of a NY plated car.
