I started out with just the calibers I shoot but now I find I will collect and keep any once fired brass caliber. I have well over 100 lbs of tumbled and sorted brass in my reloading room. Are there others here that collect brass like an obsession?

yep... Not because I'm obsessed with the brass itself, but because I find that once I have enough brass in a specific caliber, I start looking for a toy to put them through.

"But honey, I already have 1000 brass for that gun and it actually uses the same bullets as I'm already reloading for this other gun, so I'd be financially irresponsible to NOT get that gun".

But seriously.. You're obsessed. 100lbs of tumbled/sorted brass in cals you don't shoot.. come on. It's time for an intervention, and the only way to cure you is for you to box it up and send it COD to me. I'll make sure it's properly disposed of and we never have to speak of this again.

;)

I believe the term is "brass whore". Yup, I'm usually one, but haven't been anywheres lately to stock up. I used to run into LE at the Saskatoon range on occasion, and they don't need brass.:)

My last score at unmentioned place was a 5 gallon pail full of mostly 40 , some 9mm, and a bit of 45. Ballpark figure, around 70 pounds o brass total here.

The only brass I've found that I have no use for yet, is .38 Special.

My best score lately was 260 once fired Hornady 308 Marlin Express that someone went through the trouble of re-boxing before disposing of them! A couple hundred more of those brass and I may very well have to get another lever!

I like to get .308 brass whenever I can. I'm shooting 3 different .308's right now, but the brass is handy to have for other cals based on that case...

I pick up brass at our range...usually that caliber I use but lately after seeing how many .308s are for tender and how many are looking for .303 Br....I pick it all up and trade for components I need in my calibers.

I pick up nice brass whenever I get the chance. It amazes me that people will throw away once fired brass, especially rifle. If I don't have the rifle to shoot it, I try to give it to someone who will make use of it. :p:p

yea when im at the range i grab mostly rifle brass that i find discarded on the grass itself or in the scrap brass bucket i have a few cartrigge boxes jammed full of .270 and about the same amount in 30-06 about 20 .375 H&H cases and some .45 auto im sure i will have rifles in thease chamberings some time or another:)....

forgot to add that i also have a lip of 40 or so calibers from smallest to largect on my bookshelf in my bedroom:) i have from a .17 hmr to .50 BMG right now and im always looking around at the range for a new cartridge to add to the collection:)....

Wow and people looked at me like I was a brass whore just for picking up my own .223 because even though I didn't have a press at the time, I knew I would be reloading it in the future.

You guys make me sick... with envy. I wanna grow up to be a real brass whore like you guys....someday.

You will have to beat me to the range and the buckets to gain that noteriety of being a "brass whore".....It has taken time and a lot of scrounging to earn that title...lol...lol.

id have been called a brass whore myself ..ill take it all....either i or one of my buds have or will have use for it one day......but im on the edge i was thinking of collecting spent .22 caseings and gettin a set up for swedging projectiles for .233:redface::runaway:

I have over 1000 30-06 brass alone,not including 300 win,338 win,.308,303, 7mm mag,8x57, 7x57,22-250,.243 win,.270 win,,30-30 win,
I wouldn't call it an obsession....prepared would be a better term.:D

There's usually lots of brass at your local scrap yard, and no, I'm not being funny.

Just saw a barrel full of once fired .40 S&W. $2.00 a pound.

OK, I have 850 .500 S&W and 450 .338 RUM brass alone, is that excessive for those calibers? Most of the common calibers I have 11.7 litre tubs full.
