How much crimp for 9mm - lee FCD

The FCD is a taper crimp so it would take a hell of a lot to ruin the headspacing. Obviously a roll crimp is not a good idea though.
OP this will all depend on what gun you are using your reloads in.
In my Glock I don't need to crimp at all. As long as you expand as little as possible when flaring the case most combat type pistols have pretty sloppy chambers.
That said I still run my 9mm through the FCD but only to ensure I have reliable rounds, by removing any flare on the case mouth, but that's it.
So long story short, don't crimp them at all, just remove any flaring that might not be smoothed out by seating the bullet.

From my use it depends on the weapon it's been chambered into. My norc 9mm (NP28) has a very steep feed ramp and requires some crimp to ensure that the bullets do not ram onto the feed ramp, and push back into the brass casing and potentially causing huge pressure spikes. What I did was to make up a few rounds with no primer or powder just to set the minimum crimp I needed for my particular pistol, again ensuring smooth loading and no push back on the bullet from impacting the feed ramp.
With my Smith & Wesson 4506 (45 ACP) I don't need any crimp, just removal of the case bell from the expander die. Again, it's all about the particular pistol you are loading for.
