mine is approaching 11k with everything. took a LOT of saving and some serious commitment to the LR stuff to get there. most of that is tied up in the scope no doubt.

rem 700 p action
atrs brake/bolt knob
ess chassis
bartlein heavy contour barrel(7-08 just to be different)
nf base and mount
nf 5-25 f1 atacr
atlas bipod
timney trigger
rifles only sling

It hurts me to say 8-9k for this. Steyr SSG04 for just under 4k, then the A1 rail for about 1200$ more. Then about 3k for the glass and 600 for spurh bits and pieces. Lastly a few spare mages etc. It hurts because it hasnt seen the range in about 3 years...:(

Wanting to do a first custom build on a bighorn tl3 or a defiance deviant. Have not seen either in person so hard to make up my mind lol

I'm one of the el-cheapos of this thread...
Far from bragging rights here, as i'm sitting with a Savage afterall.
All prices exclude taxes

Savage 10TR : +700$
Sold factory barrel, stock, mag, rail : -430$
Insite arms brake : +225$
ATRS 20 moa rail : +150$
Rifle basix trigger : +120$
ESS chassis : +900$
IBI barrel : +600$

Sitting at right about 1700$.
Add 5% tax and a few shipping here and there, we can say i got a sub 1/2 moa that is sub 2000$ build
Scope and mount excluded.

Looks great!

Accuracy International AE MKIII 7.62x51 $4200
Schmidt & Bender PM II 5-25x56 $3000
B&t atlas bipod and spigot mount. $410
ERA Recknagel 20 moa mount $275
2x spare 10 round mags. $175

Rifle and scope bought in our EE

Once I get my SLR parts all in and assembled, with tax, it will cost me just over 4000 dollars. And that's just with iron sights. I'll be using a lightweight Leupold VX-1 scope, which will add 400 bucks.
Very close to 4500 dollars all in. Currently my most expensive build thus far. But it's a modular NR AR platform, so for me it's worth it. And it's light at 6.5 lbs with irons, just over 7 lbs with glass.
I could have gone a lot cheaper but it would be less accurate and a lot heavier.
If only there was more 6.5 Grendel available to purchase in Canada...

What's your build list?

Thanks!
I do believe i did the best 2000$ could pay for.
Put all my budget in optic and mount.
As the future rifle build budget increases (eyeballing ultimatum or insite arms), scope and mount can simply transfer from one rifle to another

So many don't get it but you did it right dude...glass and good mount is hard to beat. Rest you can build up as ya go.

Nothing wrong with a sub 1/2 moa rifle for 2k. Especially if you spend 5k on ammo and training! :)

Unless he is shooting 1/2 moa with iron sights, not including the scope is kinda cheating.

Lol, I was about to say, $1,700 plus the $500 Spuhr and $3,000-$3,800 HDII, depending on where you get it, around $5k on the low side.

Nice rifle either way, I had a Savage 10TR, shot decent groups with it out of the box, but hitting steel at 1km possible.

Considering some are spending on 8000-10000$ on unscoped rifle alone, it is not cheating, maybe a little haha.
My initial budget was 6000$, all included.
Going Razor gen ll and Spuhr, left me scrounging to get the rest together within budget.
Including bipod, 2 round holder and a few mags, i ended up busting budget by 500$.

There are many rifles in this thread i would love to take for a ride over my Savage,
You guys have shown some nice stuff on here.
My post is more for those of limited budget (excluding scope) that want to get started, and stay under or at 1/2 moa.

I guess my rifle platform, with MDT rings, and vortex viper gen ll 5-25, would be even budget friendlier.
When i saw the razor in person, i called grouse river to cancel my viper gen ll pre order and changed it for a razor gen ll!

Getting there ;)
Since the rifle was in ESS chassis i have spent about 1.3K on ammo (counting my reloads at about 1$ a shot) and 0$ on training.
I wish to have doubled my ammo expense by end of year in this rifle, and at least try to get 2-3 clinics in, work is crazy right now.

My bush Deer Rig is a TC Encore with 7-30 AI Waters custom barrel, Skinner Peeps. Total cost with taxes and shipping is two grand. I am still wanting a book stock in woodland camo laminate with the standard TC pistol grip but so far no one stateside with sell to me.

My Wife's range rig is a TC Encore with lady hunter stock and 223 AI custom barrel x4-x16-50 Scope, total cost is another two grand.

There is another 7-8 barrels for these as well at about 400 a barrel. 22LR, 223, 22 Hornet, 300WM short barrel with brake for bear chasing, 3 different muzzle loader barrels. Wanting a 12 Gauge barrel and 45/410 short barrel to finish the rig off.

No pictures right now as it is on one side of the flood with wife and house and I on other with job.

I think my moderately precise bolt gun has about $1100 in it, including the glass. It will sling 168 GMM consistently around 0.7 MOA past 500 yards, which is about all I can really ask. I think if I spent some time shooting it instead of just goofing around with pistols once in a while, I could probably see 0.5 MOA at that distance. But in the lower mainland there's nowhere to shoot that kind of distance, really.

If I lived in the prairies I'd probably spend real money on a long range gun.

That IS a great build and shoots well.

If you want to chat about this, I have parts and packages to offer.

Barrels, optics and components... that is where I spend my money.

Jerry

For those new to the precision rifle game, you can spend $1500 to 15,000. There are plenty of ways to build a tack driving rig today. First decide on your end use goals, budget THEN worry about the parts.
