How much do you have invested?

When I got my first handgun, a friend of mine told me this ... he was speaking from experience ...

"You will start shooting, then you will try out someone else's handgun and then go buy one of those because you liked it. Then you will try out someone's AR (or equivalent) and go buy one of those because you like that too. Then you will start to trick out your AR because of all the pieces and parts you can put on it. Then some a$$hole will introduce you to IPSC and you will spend more $$ than you thought you could on guns/reloading/ammo. Then some other a$$hole will introduce you to trap and skeet so a new shotgun will be next. Then another a$$hole (this is possibly the same a$$hole) is going to introduce you to 3 gun matches. By this time you will have spent so much $$ it's not even worth trying to calculate, and spent so much time it would be pointless to try and figure out those hours. Then one day you will open your safe (oh did I mention you will buy a big gun safe too?), look inside and wonder how the hell you got all those guns. At that point, you'll just shrug say screw it cuz you're having so much fun doing it."

So ... right now I'm at the point where I'm worried some a$$hole is going to introduce me to trap and skeet this year ... geez I gotta stay away from those guys LOL

Seriously though ... I've spent way more than I can keep track of ... good thing my wife shoots too ... :D

I have always had guns but sold them all when the registry came in.. then 3 years ago i decided to get back into it.. being more senior and with more money.. i started frugally... Just a .22 handgun to start... then another.. then a 9mm to start IPSC.. Then some reloading equipment to feed the need...then a Standard gun because i could not shoot the plastic gun... Then another one when i broke the first one.. Hey.. that long range shooting looks good... How about a FTR rifle.. and now those 3 gun matches look fun.. gotta have an AR-15.. Oh #### the first one is not accurate enough. got to get another one.. Oh yah.. need better reloading presses because cant reload rifle rounds on a progressive press... Man does it ever end.!!!!!!! NOPE... AND I LOVE IT!!!!

wow , the story of my life right here !

Meh. Anything worth doing these days costs way too much. Golf, scuba, hockey, needlepoint, etc can all ring the tab up in a hurry if you care to do so. Sure I spent more than enough on my dust collecting IPSC crap, but when you compare it to the 1000 bucks or so i paid to insure my sportbike (for an average of $333.33 per ride last year) it doesn't seem that bad....
