I usually incorporate some strong hand and weak hand only shooting into my weekly sessions. I have zero interest in bullseye or ISSF type games, so it's generally short range stuff: 2" Dot Torture circles at 5m or a 3x5 card at 7m.

Ya, I've been doing a bunch of that lately. Trying to get caught up on 52 weeks of pistol training .com. Dot torture is a fave.

good point on the one handed reloads, I do practice that, but only at home with unloaded dummy rounds, since people get nervous because my method involves tucking the pistol under my armpit, or betweenn my legs, pointing behind me so i can grab a mag from my belt w one hand.

maybe there is a better technique, would love to hear it.

you know its a good thread when dirt mc gurt makes an appearance

Put the gun between your knees, but point the barrel down and forwards, with the mag well facing up on an angle.

If you want to get the most out of your practice, slam the mag in on your thigh, and rack it by hooking the rear sight on your belt buckle.
Leave the slide lock/release alone. You can work on one-handed malfunction clearing this way too.

Imo, an important part of pistol shooting is not having either hand be the weak one. Each hand has a job and should know how to do the others job if necessary.
May not ever matter, but I'd rather know how just in case.

This is an interesting thread for sure. We've got bullseye guys and tactical guys blabbing about 2 very different things... lol
and yeah any time Dirt stops by, it always adds some comedy.

Whenever I do one handed shooting with mag changes I'm using a holster. One handed, gun runs dry, drop mag, put pistol in holster, cross draw a fresh mag and insert into pistol. From here you can do several different things: draw and release slide, place front sight/top of slide on back edge of holster and forcefully push down (only ever tried with a hard holster), rear sights on front of belt forcefully push down. Obviously the slide release is the best way, but always good to practice a few different ways JIC one way doesn't work. At least these are some of the ways a few of my buddies have taught me, however you'd have to do the between the legs/under armpit way if you were going offhand. Hope you can make sense of these ramblings and give them a try some time.

some interesting techniqes on one handed reloads, I never though to use the holster like that... now i will try it,

and the one handed rack or malfunction clear is SOP for my dry fire practice, I make sure i can hook it on a belt, or pants especially in a way that would let the malfunctioned cartridge clear out teh chamber.

Yep, strong hand, weak hand, and weak hand supported. When I need to shoot a left barricade, if I can't shoot it easily in my normal stance, I can shift to what works. Only friggen advantage to being cross dominant so I might as well use it.

At this time, I only shoot one handed with single action revolvers and when I do so, I also alternate hands...that's about it.

Yup, attempt to do it every time I go out. I try to force people into it when I run CDP matches. In fact I think I might draw up a stage for the next match that's all one handed switching strong/weak. I'll blame you guys when people complain.

about 50 % of my shootn is one handed .
i shoot for fun, and one hand shootin is kinda hollywood gangster bad guy .
the other 50% is more tactical ,two handed thumbs forward.
