Greetings,
Well, I finally got a proper US made flash hider for my 2007 Norc M-14S. The original one had a canted (> 10°) dovetail groove that was wrongly diagnosed as an indexing issue. Plus, now it has a bayonet lug (CHAAAAAARGE!).
Now to the point, the new castle nut set screw I have does not have a dog end as my Norc does. I'm going to remedy that on a lathe but, I'm wondering what the US specs are for the dog dimensions and the lenght on a castle nut set screw. I could just duplicate the Norc but wondered if the US Specs would fit my new flash hider better. I'm still using my Norc castle nut.
As a final note ; how tight should a front sight be on it's dovetail? I had to use a brass hammer to tap out the original one but the new one moves easly when it's screw is not tight.
