How much interest for Canadian made Norinco threaded muzzle brakes?

I am personally looking for a FH that will fit the factory threads of the nork 305bbl, and or the American bbl aswell. I think this would be a very very good seller. something maybe like the dlask one, or a break that's quiet? somethin I can use in the bush for hunting without muffs put me on your list ill b glad to purchase one once you get going

Kind of impossible to make a quiet brake....but something along the lines of a DA flash hider would be fairly straightforward to build.
As far as clamp on brakes....certainly can be done. However they are bulkier. Not to mention that the part would go from needing only 2 machine setups to 4....and would therefore be more expensive.

Totally random off-topic, wrong-section side note....would anyone want some browning MG sideplates?? Was tossing around that idea the other day but not sure if there would be any point. Are there even any parts around?

Yes exactly!

What about a clamp on in conjunction with being threaded?

This. If it's a direct connect unit, you'd want some sort of opposing set screws behind the threads as well. Through a counter bore that slips over and past the threads and onto the barrel. There aren't enough threads on the muzzle to direct connect alone, JMHO. Wish I had Mastercam to draw up a sketch.

Or, you could make an adapter with the same concept. It'd be the first I've ever seen. Oh, and an Integrex could do 'er in one setup for ya ;)

Why not?? The Springfield thread adapters have been around for ages. No reason the threads wouldn't hold up.....they don't even have to withstand the full impact of felt recoil. The only reason I dislike the clamp idea is because its bulky. The only clean, compact way to do that that I can see would be to somehow integrate it with a dovetail site base. 1 or 3 set screws in the barrel slots should be perfect for indexing. No reason I could start making adapters based off of the same idea! Would be a challenge to make it LOOK nice though...while at the same time keeping the OAL as short as possible.

Okay. Nobody freak out yet.....but I am in the process of tracking down a phase converter for my fancy shmancy (not really) new (definitely not) lathe and mill.

On another note...

I helped TinyTim, he was working on a direct muzzle brake, no idea what has become of him.
My gun still sports one of his.

Only advice I can give you is that all M305s are not built alike. He had to make a shims for me so that the brake would index correctly.

Brake also had a set screw.

Keep you overhead low, not too many options and make sure there is a little left to eat ond you're good.

Doing my best....not easy though. I will be completely all in by the time all is said and done....Between machines, electrical setup, finding a heated space, various tooling (endmills, drill bits, tool holders, carbide cutting inserts....etc) measuring tools......Oooooh, if only I had become an electrician. All you need is a cordless drill and a bag of screw drivers!
The good news though is that ill be the only machine shop for 60k in any given direction.....

My plan is to begin my prototypes with three set screws. If that doesn't work well enough for my liking, then I may have to figure out a clean clamping system.

Soooo, I kinda got a slap on the wrist for this thread (which is fair enough...). Was gonna post a few pics of the shop/equipment but I'd rather not take my chances haha. Will be looking at a business membership on here once I can afford it, but likely not for a couple months at least. Until then, PM. Or keep your eye on the EE.....ya never know what might pop up ;)
