How much oil to use on AR?

Buy carbon cutter it will make paste out of the hard baked on carbon, and just wipe off..

-- as well I have notice TW25B does not burn off as readily as CLP.

Kevin,
With the TW25B, I assume that you are using the white, thicker formulation, as opposed to the thinner, clear type.
As it happens, the white version is also shipped as a 'sampler' with new SIG's.

I use, and recommend, the thicker, white version TW25B.
Must admit, Mobil 1, red synthetic grease also works well.

Adding lube like that to the fire control parts is asking for dirt build up for nothing gained.
You can lube a trigger/hammer pin - but other than that - you just adding lube for no sake.

- buffer tube
You shoul dhave some lube on the spring -- it will reduce friction, and help preserve the springs effectiveness under high cycling (springs heat when cycled and added friction creates more heat.

BUT not a tone of it

Cleaning
I tend to use MPro-7 cleaning kits - as I have a few since they where the only ones Brownells could ship to Iraq (they have no hazmat)

- here at KAC - we use KG Carbon Cutter, Hoppe's9 Copper cleaner, and TW-25B.
We also have piles of lubes that snake oil salesmen send to us.

Would be glad to take off you hands some "snake oil" that you have to try out !! :D

Did you tried weaponshield new grease formula ?
Or it was toss in the snake oil bin ?

I'm curious if you ever tried Brian Enos' Slide Glide (either in rifles or pistols). There seems to be a lot of hype about this product on the internet, but the same thing was true of militec before people found out it's wasn't that great after all.

After using the TW25 on my 10.5 gun I find the bolt stays alot cleaner and carbon wipes off easier as well. For cleaning though CLP or any decent motor oil seems to work well. I put them in a bag to soak.
