How much recoil can a red dot take?

Was thinking of putting a spare Burris fastfire 3 or a vortex venom on a Mossberg patrol 308
How much recoil can a red dot take? I’m assuming a 308 should be ok?

I’ve had a Vortex venom on my 12 gauge shotgun for a couple years...no issues.

Even the replica can take a beating. Years ago I was given a Aimpoint M2 knockoff... decided to mount it on a shotgun. After well over 300 full power slugs, it was still holding up

Leupold Delta Point Pro on an 1895 in 45-70, no issues to date. Hope I didn’t just jinx that.

Holosun has a good recoil chart for the forces from a bunch of different calibres. I have a holosun rds on a sporterized VZ24 (8mm Mauser) and the rds handles it fine. Just make sure you know how much force the rds can take before you buy it just to be on the safe side.

RDS’s have been getting battered continually when mounted on pistol slides in the semi auto pistol IPSC/USPSA divisions.
While sights do fail their general reliability is amazing, you shouldn’t have any issues.
