I'm looking at buying a bcl-102 completed lower receiver only and It was quoted at $680 with tax. This seems expensive to me but maybe im wrong? Would it save me money if I just bought the stripped lower receiver and completed the rest myself? Does the bcl-102 have any issues with third party parts for the lower receiver?

For clarification I have the Upper + Barrel + BCG already.

Before anyone tells me to buy a stag 10, im aware of any issues the bcl102 has and how the stag 10 is superior. Im only interested in the bcl102 because of the cheap price.

BCL has all kinds of problems with third party parts. If you go with a BCL I would get a complete rifle but I would suggest you read back through a few pages of this forum looking for threads with any info you can find on BCL, you probably won't want one afterwards.

If you buy a BCL stripped lower you'll need to use a BCL upper as well, they are not compatible with any other brands.

I would buy a Stag 10 if I was getting into a NR AR-10 ish rifle. It will cost a little more but sometimes it's worth it to spend a little more to get something that's built better.

There is the option of selling the upper and switching over entirely. $680 for a lower is pretty steep especially for the quality they are.

I bought raw aluminum BCL 102 receiver set when they were available from SFRC, paid $850 for just the stripped upper & lower. I was collecting parts to put it together, then the Stag 10's came out. It was a no brainer to buy the stag 10 set with a LPK for $650. I had both receiver sets side by side at one time. I sold my never assembled BCL 102 receiver set for $450, taking a $400 loss. Do yourself a favor, just sell the BCL stuff.

$680 for just the lower??? There's a complete rifle on the EE right now for under $1K. What were they when they came out? $1700 or $1800? The depreciation rate on these is staggering.

Buy whatever you want but ask yourself this: Are you ready to lose 40%+ the moment you swipe your CC?

For comparison the Stag10 stripped upper + lower set is about $1000.

Seller sets price, we can either buy it or not. If it feels like too much then it probably is. Try not to depend on internet opinions of people who may never even owned any of the things they're giving you advice on.

I don’t know where your buying yours for $1000 but I just paid $659 for a stag 10 U/L set and it included a complete LPK,pistol grip, dust cover and F/A

You can use your barrel and BCG, sell your BCL upper and buy a handguard.
