How much should I pay for a 10/22 and a 22/45 together?

I want to go buy a 10/22 and a 22/45 and I want to try and bargain with the retailer because I'll be buying both and I think the markup might be a bit high but I'm unsure what they are paying wholesale vs what the US wholesale price is.

MSRPs according to Rruger are
Wood stock with blued barrel 10/22RB is $261 USD
Synthetic stock blued barrel 10/22RPF is $261 USD
Synthetic stock stainless barrel S/22RPF is $308 USD

I don't really want the stainless one but it seems to be a lot easier to find

The 22/45 I want is the bull barrel in stainless KP512MKIII $422.00 USD

$683 total + GST, locks and government BS leaves me pretty much broke with no money for a scope or ammo :(

Do you think I'll be able to get a deal at all or am I pretty much stuck paying MSRP?

Deals largely depend on where you shop. ;)

Having said that, look @ sales prices versus MSRP's when determining your bargaining position. Sales prices represent the lower-limits of where your seller is coming from, so consider a 10/22 can be on sale generally anywhere from $185 to $210. So...

Guage the 22/45 in a similar fashion, and then try to push for the sales price on one or both items when you purchase as a package. ;) Good luck!

I ended up paying $275 for the 10/22 and $399 for the 22/45; A 5.4% and 22.8% premium over the US MSRP;

I could have gotten them for a bit less at another place in town but I wanted to buy from P &D Enterprises because their store is clean and bright and their staff have been very friendly every time I've been in there. I asked for a deal but they said no.

Which is fair, it's their business; I know they have to make money and pay for all those friendly people who work there.

In the end service is more important than price.

I also picked up some Jackson Safety (Winchester SXT) muffs and I really like them, they were pretty cheap and did a good job but they're VERY comfortable, at-least on my head. Most ear muffs make my head hurt pretty quick but I had time to load and shoot 120 rounds through my new 10/22 before I even got a little warm let alone uncomfortable. As for noise reduction I'd give them a 7/10 they're good but not great, they did a lot better than some I've used but not as good as some more expensive ones, but they were just fine.

It's bad news I'm afraid. I've put about 300 rounds og CCI Standard Velocity through it and I seem to be able to do only 2 or 2.5" at 40 yards, the scope base keeps shaking lose and one of the holes stripped out. I'm going to thread lock the other three and try some other ammo. The finish on the barrel is very poor and the finish inside the receiver is flaking off. The stock also has some cosmetic issues.

I got to take my 22/45 home today and then found out it doesn't work at all! It has a whole host of issues, the magazine is very hard to get in and out, it won't disassemble, when I tried to disassemble it to give it an initial cleaning it wouldn't come appart. The bolt doesn't close on it's own when I operate the release unless I slam it shut and then the trigger doesn't release the hammer. So

Not typical at all with the 22/45. Have you read the manual? It shouldn't be that hard.
