Hey everyone,
I see all sorts of posts about negative/neutral/positive sear-hammer engagement, but what I haven't found is how much is good? How many millimeters/inchs is right (as measured on the face of the sear)?

Anybody know?

thanks Dilligaf, saw that and followed it and a few other tutorials. I've got positive and smooth engagement, and can't jar or bump the group to cause a fire. But still he doesn't mention how much actual hammer/sear travel he's got.

Actually that's not totally true in episode 3 he mentions that he's got about 1/8th inch on the face of the sear BEFORE filing/polishing out some of the creep. Would be nice to know how much he or others ended up with, or if it matters as long as there's good engagement.

If it has positive engagement then you can get it pretty short. I filed over 1/8" off one and still had a little creep left. Experiment, parts are cheap.
