How much vension do you eat?

I eat the amount my brother and I get deer hunting. This year two deer, other years not so much.
I guess I had between 40 and 50 pounds of deer meat in my freezer at the end of deer hunting season this year.
Have venison at least 2 a month.
My Dad has a beef farm so I get a lot of beef as well...

Our family of 4 will go through 2 large bucks a year. Most of it in the form of jerky, farmer sausage and salami. I take summer salami sammiches to work almost every day. We also pre make a lot of hamburger patties when I'm processing a deer so they're always ready for the BBQ. Save a lot of time and money doing this and I like to feed it to guests that haven't tried venison.

One deer a year, sometimes more if I get an additional game seal. Plus my share of a moose which is getting smaller every year due to our group size increasing in order to get a guaranteed tag. But for me it's still about the love of the hunt.

I just made venison/ground pork meatballs with panko bread crumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, chili flakes, Keens dry mustard, Worstershire sauce and a couple of eggs.

Roll them up into giant 2" meatballs and bake in the oven for 40 minutes at 375F.

One of them is a meal and 2 of them is a pigout.

Moose and deer just about all year long. We have half a moose in the freezer and at least a deer in the freezer. So I don't buy much meat. Maybe some pork or chicken once in a while. I don't waste good meat on sausages and pepperoni sticks. Everything gets vacuum packed so I'm good for the whole year. When hunting season comes around I'm working hard to empty the freezer.

I eat as much local food as I can. Lots of local fish, small game and big game when possible. Right now the freezer is looking pretty barren.

I get a medium sized buck almost every year, for a family of four it helps off set the cost at superstore.

My crew really enjoys venison burger and they prefer it over beef burger. Needless to say, we use as much as our hunting tags will allow.

I've never heard of this. Tell me more please? What is the guide lobby and what did they do?

Take it with a significant grain of salt. While I don't support the move, they were almost entirely overturned / reversed anyhow. The changes were also often so minimal as to make no difference, but I agree it was the principle. Three elk, on all of Vancouver Island, was the increase in the elk allocation to non-residents for instance.

Phat Eagle is also neglecting to mention moose are an over the counter no draw tag in BC, you just can't do that within less than a full day's drive from Vancouver, which many people expect they should be able to. Well, I still drive to moose country with no draw (and an 8 week long open season) in a day's drive, but suppose we should be keeping these secrets eh? Sometimes misguided perceptions should be left that way. If people think it's too hard to put a moose in your freezer every year in BC they've likely never hunted anywhere else, as it's easier here than just about anywhere.

Game meat/ fish six days a week Moose. Deer. Elk. Goose. Duck. Walleye. Halibut. Sockeye. Spring. Coho. Trout. Ling cod. And free range home grown organic chicken on 7th day

And I am going to be the guy putting a damper on this discussion.....

I would not be posting how much might be in one's freezer at home.....

If I were the law I would be doing some serious searching. Some of the quantities I have read sound to me on the high side of legal to be eating that much........

Yep flame away.......just facts boys and girls

No flame it's easier and more interesting to just point out how curious this notion is. In BC as an example choosing your units you can shoot 15 deer, two black bears, a sheep, a goat, an elk, a moose, a bison if drawn, a caribou, cougar, stuff I'm likely forgetting, and this ignores waterfowl and upland. You can legally take enough meat to fill a refrigerated truck if you have the family to eat it, and it would be no ridiculous feat and wouldn't require draws or breaking bag limits.

I could have taken the short way and just pointed out one bull moose is 600+ 8 ounce portions too I suppose, but that would have taken the fun out of it. Going to go out on a limb and guess you don't butcher many moose, many here do... :)
