How much would you pay for a HK 416 upper?

For us civilians, who would only be using it as a range gun, the standard AR gas system works just fine. A piston AR is nothing more than an expensive novelty that really isn't necessary for our use. (Has that extreme "Look Cool Factor" though doesn't it!?) :)

For guys facing real-word combat, under less than ideal conditions, and being forced to contend with extremely harsh climatic conditions that can incapacitate small arms without extensive care and maintenance, I can see where the HK would be attractive.

However, given HK's extremely elitist and anti-civilian corporate outlook, they can shove it up their arse. I'd much rather give my money to companies that appreciate all of their customers, no matter their profession, such as Swiss Arms, LMT, Armalite, STAG, etc...I still would love an HK MP-5, but after falling in love with my Swiss Arms CQB, I wouldn't trade the latter for a new-in-box MP-5, even if I had the opportunity.

An AR isn't really necessary or "our" use either..........;)

As for the upper, I'd pay 1500

No more than any of the other piston uppers on the market. Hell, if I want a piston gun I'll just pick up an AR180B.

There were no "Dealer samples" what happened is a US SF officer brought a bunch in on a mil end-user in conjunction with a dealer.

It was illegal - as the end user was not complied with -- the end user was not the US MIL - but a bunch of civilians -- Hk got pissy and the ATFE now has ruled that a non federal entity needs to buy complete guns (I.E. US non federal LE) and Federal units (FBI, DHS, US MIL) can buy uppers-- the US mil did purse the maj involved in the bogus import work...

Sort answer -- you have to pay what the marker will bare -- and in the US its over 5k these days.
