With the recent bare shelves in U.S. Gunshops and little to no shipments coming from S&W/Ruger for the forseeable future, there have been quite a few "Well over retail" prices on EE for items such as SR9 and M&P 22 andRuger SP101 22.

These items have sold very quickly and got me wondering.................

Would you wait patiently or would you pay through the nose to get a "New Model" pistol sooner?

How much over retail would you pay to get one ?

I bought an M&P 22 from the EE last night, paid $500 and it came with 3 mags. Retail is about $610 for the same package. I would never pay over retail for a used gun. I don't care how hard it is to find.

I would pay new price for used gun, but not more. I have no problem waiting within reason. I waited over a year for my 44 mag redhawk with 4.2 barrel, and it still didn't come in. Passed up many over priced used one until a cgner offered me one at great price.

The average price for them last year was $459. Thats what i paid anyways. I was lookink for a 2nd one and Most dealers that i emailed have a waiting list price of $510 now

I would never pay it. I don't need any firearm that bad, I'll
Wait for them to be available again. I shake my head ($400 for tapco sks,10/22, rem 870's) at asking prices sometimes. In the
Local "Bargain hunter" there's always "never fired" or "only 20 rounds" they're still used and I'd rather pay the extra $50-100 for a new firearm.

Your gonna see a lot of these guns back up on the EE once this stupid hoarding panic runs its coarse....I'm not buying into it. The market is going to be flooded with firearms once things settle down in the U.S a little.

I've noticed that nearly all the guns are used and are priced at more than new retail cost. But, it's not just guns, look at all the mags for sale...they are all over retail price. I would not pay more than retail price unless it's impossible to find.

there are way to many guns on the EE that are overpriced!!!! i wouldn't pay more then used prices for a used gun.... pretty simple, used guns are not worth retail prices, guns are like cars, once you leave the store with it they depreciate in value. But this is my opinion, probably why i spend more time laughing when going through the EE then spending my money.

I agree. My local dealer sells them for $450 (when they can get them) but once you add in 2 extra $40 mags and add on the tax, you get $610.

I guess the other way to get what you want is to import via buffalo gun centre or other broker. At least you can get a new one that way.

A- To the OP, SR9's are readily available around here for less then $475. (regional thing maybe?)

B- Most EE ''complainers" (especially with low to no trader rating) don't realize that the real deals don't last longer than say an hour or two. Usually minutes.

C- In Canada at least, I think "speculators" are fabricating a false supply demand scale and causing a panic buy up here, selling their stock piled stuff at huge mark ups.
(AR pmags are a perfect example. A banned member was constantly ''doom and glooming'' supply while selling them at enormous rates)
