I shoot mostly surplus from my other guns so I have to at least rinse them after every day or they DO rust in less than 48 hours. But my 10/22... its got nearly 1500 rounds through it since I got it and I havent really "cleaned" it yet. When I installed the dlask charge handle I sprayed the bolt off with some degreaser before I re-installed it. But thats it. Havent even cleaned the barrel. I realize this will make some of you gasp and shudder with discussed but for me, this is a fun gun, not one to stress over. So far, nearly 1500 rounds and not a SINGLE issue. Every single round has fed and fired perfectly, other than the first few from my Nomad clip... it didnt work well. But the rest through the steel lips have never failed and thats using all different brands of ammo. Nothing fancy, just the cheap stuff.
With that said, im cleaning tonight. But still... I wonder how often the AVERAGE 10/22 gets cleaned. Im sure the higher end builds are babied. But the beaters, how do they get treated?
