How often do you clean your gun/barrel

So am I the only one who has used a compressed gas duster (as used for cleaning computers) to blow crud out of little nooks and crannies not accessible with a Q-tip? It works really well, and I am THAT anal about firearm cleaning. I thoroughly clean all my guns after every trip to the range, although not necessarily as soon as I get home. Sometimes it takes me a day or two to get to them.

You know that stuff leaves a residue on what it sprays.

I send a bore snake threw on 50 rounds and field strip and after 100 rounds I'll give a once over with oil and clean barrel with patch of hoppes9, 10 strokes of copper brush dipped in Hoppes9, patch of Hoppes9, drypatchs, patch of Sweets762, 10 strokes of copper brush with sweets762, patch of sweets762, oil then dry patchs until dry.

Judging from the other posts I guess I'm overdoing it a bit. However my cz has about 1200 rounds total so I think I'm still in break in mode for the barrel. I still get a lot of blue from the barrel when I clean but not as much as when I first got it and cleaned the barrel after 10, 30, 60, 100 round counts.

I still feel guilty about waiting until 100 rounds to clean as when I shoot my rifle I clean after every round. Still new to this pistol stuff only been shooting pistol for about 2 weeks now.

When is a barrel broken in?

So brake cleaner is safe to spray the gun with. I also have this stuff, similar to break cleaner that is made to be used on electronic boards as it will not eat through plastic, etc. Would this be better to use?

Is that Tech-Spray? If so, be careful, it still eats through acrylics and other plastics, like the plastic grips of a Norinco .45

Normally clean my 1911 after every trip out. Althought this past fall when I was in Borden for months on end I would come home some weekends and go to the range. On a couple of occasions I put 300-400 rounds down range and then let her sit dirty for a couple of weeks until I got home again for a weekend. So there has been a few times where my Norc 1911 has had upto 1000 rounds through her before any real cleaning. I did run a brush through the barrel, but that was about it. No problems, no malfunctions.

I clean after every range session - bore and areas accessable from field stripping - and give every firearm a detail inspection/cleaning every six months.

I use the Dust-off spray for quickly clearing hard to reach places during regular cleaning. It may leave residues if you shake, tilt, or upend the can, or spray too close in use, so don't do that. In any event, you should subesquently be lubricating those areas after cleaning them anyway.

I clean mine after each trip to the range. I have a beretta 92 vertec 9mm that really gets fouled, even using Winclean ammo, plus a Ruger P90 .45 and I look forward to getting them home to clean them out. Something to do while I watch the Leafs get pasted, thankfully. Go Flames Go!!!!

Strip , clean lube, re-assemble. My center fire auto's get cleaned every second trip (depending on round count). Revolvers every trip: I do not shoot them that often so at least they get stored clean. My .22 pistols get cleaned each use. They normally rip thru 400 rounds per visit and that means a lot of fouling.

Regards,

was bored last night and cleaned the bore on my Elite II, have to wait and see if it'll still shoot worth a damn this weekend.
Been humming and hawing about trying some copper melt, met the inventor and he seems a bit of a used car salesman to me.

It depends on the gun...
My regular range guns; GSP 22LR, lube and wipe out the bolt face every few range session. Complete strip down every 5000rds. S&W M52, strip down cleaning every 200rds.

The guns that only make it to the range the odd time get a complete cleaning before going back in the safe...

Safe cleaning,
Mike.
