How often do you F-Class competitors use your sunshade?

If you shoot F-Class, do you use your riflescope's sunshade?

I'd like to address this question specifically to those who actively participate in F-Class competition:

How often do you use your riflescope's sunshade?

Sometimes, always, almost never? Does it stay attached, does it stay in your bag, or does it usually stay at home?

(I'm making this poll public.) Thank you.

Always. I learned that if you're on the first string at the KTSA range, (ie, early in the morning) the sun is low enough and still in front of you enough that it's glare is a real issue. The range faces east, more or less.
Having got the sunshade, I screwed it on, and there it has stayed ever since.

Besides, it looks tacticooler that way. ;)

Mine is always attached. At our range, as Steve indicated, it is necessary to have. I have even gone as far as screwing 3 together to keep the sun from hitting the objective lens.

Depending on how the range you are shooting at is situated you may not need a sunshade on.

I cannot see a discernable difference in the light gathering abilities of my scope with the sun shade on as opposed to having it off. I actually tried this yesterday as it came up in discussion between myself and another f-class shooter while we were at the range.

If not trying to "make weight" limit, why bother to take it off.I serves not only as a sunshade but rain ,dirt and birdcrap shade as well.

I've always run a short-ish shade, although I can't remember ever having a real glare issue. This past year in Hottawa I was having a tough time getting a clear view of the target until I fabbed a quick and dirty mirage band to deflect the mirage from the barrel as well.

18-0, in favour of the sunshade. I guess that settles it.

Thank you for your responses.

Mirage shades

that are attached to rifle barrels are by far better.

The screw on shields can and will hold heat. The mirage shields that BR shooters use will not. They help to deflect the heat from the barrel around the objective lense.

The only thing screw on ones help is maybe sun glare.
