How often do you tear down your entire PUMP action shotgun ?

Every few years ,but the gun is lucky to get out maybe once a year. I clean and oil the barrel and action after each days use.

I did it today, i was changing out the stock and decided while i had everything out i may as well tear it down to nothing and see if i could reassemble it myself. Its a mav 88 so its pretty simple, but fun!

I really enjoy stripping down all my guns so I would say I do a full strip after every third or fourth use so probably once a month. My wife is in university so when she is studying I head into the basement tear apart my guns and just tinker away. My mossberg 500 comes apart very quickly and easily so it seems worth while... And IF you need help pulling it apart and puting it back together I'm sure you will find something on youtube

Anyone know how to take down a Mossberg 400G? I assume its same as a Mossberg 500? Any help be great.

They are almost exactly the same. The only difference I've found between my 500 and my 400G is that the mag tube on the 400 must be removed before removing the forend. There's a lip and spring holding the forend onto the mag tube, so it only comes out one way.

PM me if you need pics explaining it

Am I the only OCD one here? I strip down and completely clean every piece after every outing....

I clean my rifles usually after every shooting (as long as I'm shooting more then a couple boxes), shotgun barrels don't need to be cleaned that often. I know people that shoot skeet and trap competitively and clean there barrels every 1000+ rounds. As to taking the whole thing apart and cleaning it once a year is about right, but it doesn't hurt to clean it as often as you like.

Give it a WIPE DOWN after every use...to prevent rust.

Clean/scrub the barrel every few 1000 rounds.

COMPLETE tear down and clean once or twice a year...or it it got wet.

about evey 2000 rds unless its been raining non stop when im out.
But most shotguns are so loose, its easyer to just stick the spray can of cleaner and hose it down till all the crap comes out, then do the same with lube.
clean bore oil outside and good to go.

i have one shotgun here has almost 40k without me taking the trigger mec or bolt out, just basic clean and lube.
the same gun has over 180k shot and ill prob rebuild it when it hits 200k, or maybe shoot it till it blows up.
