How old do you think this press is.

About 4 years ago i was going through my Fathers Old reloading Box he had shoved away under a bench for I don't know how long.. Anyways this is the press i started with. It works great but finding shell holders were about impossible. All I could reload was .222 and 6.5x55.

The Shells Holders are threaded and screw onto the ram.. Markings on it say Ehco Champ... It has the small and large rifle shell primer but the Larger rifle one is broke.
Any ideas on what age it is and what its possibly worth..

If you cannot open the pics please let me know.. Im just learning how to do this lol

Thanks

If a person wants to use it ,it should be easy enough to make a shell holder adapter or make a new ram as long as it accepts the standard dies. A neat old press from days of yore

Yeah i really liked it to be honest. I probably would still be using it if i could have found shell holders to fit it. Its actually a very nice press to use. Its solid, does twist or anything when resizing dies. I guess thats they way everything was built back in the day... from cars and trucks, to furniture, guns and even reloading presses. I guess you could say it was build to last. I might just hang on to this old piece of art. ITs not an antique but its close to my heart. Its what got me into reloading and hell, it might just be the press that gets my son/Daughter into it(When or if I have one).

Emmer! thanks for the photos and the research. Its much appreciated!

It will be very easy to make a shell holder adapter. All you need is a brass set screw to hold it on the shaft, so it won't unscrew.

These presses are rock solid... really worth the little money you will put in have an adaptor made.

Yeah i was lucky that it worked out for the 222... but unforantily my 6.5 brass in the old Priv brass where the rim is just that little bit thinker and the holder fits them well... It does work for the 22-250,7mm-08 and 308 but its a little sloppy... maybe getting an adaport made is the way to go... and i have just the guy to do it..

Thanks again for all the replies!!!

all real good ideas!! thanks.. For now I will just hang on to the press and decided on what to do once the quote comes back on how much it will cost to get an adaptor made. Until then one weekend ill take it all apart and clean it all up. Would be a very good back up press in the chance I or a friend ever needs one.

Thanks again on all the replies

I can relate...I have an old Herters Super Model 3 with dies, shellholders, other stuff. Even the old powder scale. Only of interest to collectors I suspect, so it will all be destined to one of the gun shows soon. :(
Cheers

** CH Tool & Die makes an adapter to allow modern shellholders in the old Echo, Herters etc ch4d.com and look for adapters

And he shot a Glock...I still hear it at the Range..."Jesus that's a nice Glock". God on the other hand shoots a .45....God what a beautiful Kimber ! lol

If you try to size to big of a shell casing or if the casing sticks and you use to much force they used to break that's why they supplied the extra piece after to many were broken. The Lee C press does the same thing. I just made the extra piece as the original is sort of hard to find.
