How old is "Canuck" ammo?

I can't say I ever seen this stuff before. I was given a bag of random 12 gauge shells to dispose of. There are 14 of these in the bag. They all seem to be in good shape other than maybe a little discoloration on the brass.
Anyone know anything about it?

I was also given a ammo box of rifle pistol rounds with some weird stuff in it obviously it was a collection. There some of the strange stuff is something that looks to be at least 45 cal and rim fire. As well as some neurberg ammo or something like that.

That looks to have a waxed cardboard hull..................IIRC that would be around the 1950s/1960s.............I have a couple of old Dominion Wax Cardboard shells in my collection.........

I just bought some of those for my 28 ga. but they are ball.I new they are in the 50s but should still be OK to fire.DAN>>>

Look old. Mine went bang, dunno if they are the same decade though. I'd save them for practice, wouldn't want to let a bird get away.

CIL paper shell Canuck . Shot lots back in the day . Only problem with them is if they got wet they would some times swell up & not chamber . There were Canuck (light load)
Maxims (med load) & Imperials (standard load) And Imperial Special Long Range (magnum of the day)
Still remember walking down the stairs of the old Army & Navy store in New Westminster with my dad grabbing box's of them & CIL 22 LR Wizbangs !

long as there not wet or swolllen up should be fine. I shot some bb ones that a guy gave me to get rid of. They all shot fine they should be from the 60s i think thats what they look like.

I've got some of those laying around also. Also have a old box full of paper C.I.L Imperial .410, marked "waterproff, finished in DUCO" Have no idea what Duco is.

I rec'd a bag with aprox 150 old shells from a friend who's father had passed away. There was old Canuck and Imperial paper shells in the bag and I used them all. I put them through my fathers old Ithica pump shotgun and they worked just fine on sharptails. I remember the Canucks when I was just a kid so I would guess they are from the 50's or 60's at latest.

I bought a box of Canucks to go along with my first shotgun purchase in 1968. They were plastic by that time but I don't know when the change happened.

That brings back old memories. Nothing like the smell of a fresh box of CIL paper shotshells. Reminds me of this time of year and getting things ready for hunting with my
Dad.

Gald Iceman brought up the smell of fired paper shells.
If you've not experienced this, make sure to give them a good whiff before discarding.

Paper shells and the original Hoppes are like a fresh batch of grandma's cookies.
