Youngest is 19, oldest is 101. Not even joking.

4 generations hunting together. And the 5th generation is back at the cabin itching to be out there with the big boys.

That is awesome kodiakjack I would give anything to be able to hunt with my grandfather and have multiple generations come together like that. I was late getting into hunting and shooting. It took me having my own son to realize how important spending time with your family was.

Huge amount of young hunters in our area. Hunting is seen as a cool thing to do, lots of youngsters from no traditional hunting families starting too.

yes, I've seen a sharp rise in younger hunters on the roads and in the woods up yer way. I've steered a few on the path to getting out of thier trucks and discovering what lies a 100 yards into the bush if they sit quietly and wait long enuff ;)
Up here in 100 mile same thing.... loads of new young hunters around and lots of gals taking up hunting as well. My wife had her first all girl LEH group hunt here in 5-2B. I think they ranged from 17 to 41. They got 2 bucks but struck out on thier moose tags. Good to see them out having fun without the men, and it didn't involve shopping!!! haha

I think our youngest is barely out of diapers Jay.:xes

Still 'wet behind the ears' from what I understand! Chuckle

Cheers
Jay

Yeah I'd sure love to know what directly the hell you are talking about, cuz I ain't scared of a hike and walked no less than 10 km almost each weekend so far this season, didn't see a damn thing.

Man patriot1, you gotta work a bit harder during those therapy appointments of yours because you seem ANGRY. Perhaps his point was that he was introducing some younger hunters to alternative hunting techniques?

I am 37 and hunt with a 34 yr old buddy. Sadly, due to work, all the older generation hunting mentors (Dad, uncles, old family friends etc.) are on the other side of the country and I've definitely encountered a few situations where their expertise would have come in awfully handy. By the time my son is ready for mentoring we should be able to nicely assume the role of 'old timers' for him and hunting friends he may make.

The youngster is 46 the middle two middle 50 t's I'm coming up on 68 been hunting with them since the youngest was 20 or so.
Never a problem with not showing up when we made plans everyone gets along for the most part I have to say getting a good hunting group together is harder than finding a wife.im still hunting with the same guys second wife

We have an apprentice at 13

My cousin is next at 24

Im next at 32

We have 4 in their early mid 40s

50s might e barren?

We have several who are right around 60

A few over 70

One over 80

I have a bunch of friends who hunt, but they all grew up in their only family camps/groups. Hard to convince them to leave, especailly because, like me, they arent paying much with their own family. People who arent family have a daily rate to hunt at our camp.

My nephew is 13. He'll be going for whitetail this year.

My son is 4. He has a bloodthirsty addiction to killing squirrels. "Those dirty squirrels are getting into grandpa's insulation again." In his words.

that comment of mine was area specific to the region Gatehouse is referring to. Your location is not shown under your handle so not sure if you are hunting where I was talking about.
I won't go into details about that specific area online as a few guys here would probably prefer less hunters in that area hehehe

Find the game trails , every place animals live there are trails and routes they prefer at certain times of the year. Taught to them by the does that raised them. Find out if your deer herds migrate. This information can be gleaned from other hunters, conservation officers, wildlife tour operators and by talking to a ministry biologist.... which can be difficult but if you are persistant eventually you get to talk to one hehehe.

2 of my hunts each year involve ambush hunting migrating deer. In one case, coastal blacktail and blacktail/fraser basin mule deer hybrids. The other migration is cariboo plateau mule deer. Took me years to find my spots for ambush hunting those but success has been steady since.

I'm just one hunter and don't profess to be an expert hunter but I'm mostly self taught and was unsuccesfull in my first 4 seasons for ungulates. I took my first buck in my 5th year hunting and I've never looked back. I've learned so much from just making mistakes and blowing golden opportunities, but I've earned the successes I have had and paid my dues for the knowledge gleaned.

I dunno if that helps ya any but there it is.

my buddy's kid is 2 and he already knows what to do when he sees the deer. Having dinner one night over there and he's hollering at the window. So excited and pointing like he's holdin dad's rifle saying "shoot it" followed by "boom" . HAHAHA there were 3 does in the driveway.
so awesome.
so ya, I guess our upcoming little hunter is still in diapers too LOL

That's funny. My grandson was bound and bent by a very young age as well he was going to be a hunter. Had him out with his 1st pellet gun at around 5. Bought a marlin 60 when he was 8 (told him it was his) and let him upgrade to whatever Boyd's stock he wanted to pick, gave him choice of scope and he wanted bipod. At that age he had already read the firearms safety course book and hunting course book at least a dozen times. He has become a very good shot. By 10 he was hitting empty shotshells constantly at 50 yds and got bored with that so started setting the 22 brass up and he can hit them pretty consistent. Unfortunately they moved to the city a few years ago now and he has lost all interest. Doesn't even want to come up shooting anymore. I just hope that 1 day he decides he would like to get back into it.

Oh yeah, thanks for the info I do appreciate it. I've only been out for grouse so far and apparently they're all over Forestry Trunk road, well I didn't see one at dawn, dusk or mid day. Then Hopewell for pheasant, still nothing. Never can catch any fish either.

I'm sorry for my demeanor but it should come as no surprise that I have this incredible F-off vibe about me, always have and I am starting to think the animals can feel it too.

no apologies needed here man. Some of the internet dolls around here are kinda touchy and gotta say something about everything. I'm a certified *sshole too, most of my friends and family think so haha so it's all good :)
as long as yer not bashin canada's indigenous people in the forums.... I'm all good
