You were lucky you got the rash. Most folks don't. A months worth of antibiotics may not cut it so you aren't out of danger yet. That one month thing is from the US where private health insurance hates paying for anything. I never got the bulls eye rash and it took 10 years to get diagnosed in the US. I needed 7 months of antibiotics.

Yes but left with permanent impairments, mostly visual and cognitive. Another fellow at work walked into the doctors office with the bulls eye rash and put on one months antibiotics. He afterwards got put on months of antibiotics when a specialist got involved. He had liver and kidney function issues and still has issues with his liver. He is in his 30's. Lyme also adds about 10 years to your life.
I figure I was bit during deer season in SW Ontario in 1999 handling dead deer. I never found any tick or rash. In fact I have never seen a tick.

After the better part of 60 years of roaming around in the woods, I had my first personal tick encounter last week. Also have picked a few off the dog this year, again something new for us.

Sask31, I have never come across ticks as small as you posted. Darn. Now I have to check out my dog. Those are almost microscopic.

Don't they all start off that small? If they're bigger when you find them it's because they've been sucking blood for a while. They just keep getting bigger and bigger.

Spent a lot of time in North Western Ont (Kenora/Fort Francis areas) working on MNR fire crews. Some years ticks were bad . Every night before crawling into our sleeping bags we would check ourselves with a flashlight for ticks. One summer we had a contest. We each had a small jar and collected our ticks. Highest count won free beer in town after a fire assignment. Cheating by catching some outside before bed was not allowed. I remember working out of Federal Fisheries HQ located SE of Kenora. Camp staffer had a big long haired collie dog. Every evening she would brush the dog and remove at least a dozen of the critters.

First year is larva and nymph stages. See my post above. The second year they are bigger. Once they gorge themselves with blood the increase about 10 times their size.
