How should a eotech reticle look like

Hey guys, just got my hand on my very first holo sight and i dont know if its mine or what since i have no other experience but the reticle is attrocious. The 65moa ring is not solid it look like its made of red dust like hundred of little red dot instead of a solid circle. I have a holosun 507c which is basically the same reticle and it look great no issue there. Is it my expectation that were to high since i was used to normal dot or is it an issue from my eotech?

Hell i had an airsoft replica 512 when i was younger and it was miles ahead of what my eotech look like now.
 
SFRC, May 2020 production Eotech 518, i mean i should be in the clear from all the older issue. Serial look genuine too

If you got it new from SFRC, then I have no doubt it's genuine.

Others will know more about the old issues, but my guess is there isn't an issue with the newer ones. Curious about the pixelated reticle though...
 
Normal here, I have astigmatism in one eye and noticed that I see the dots and seems out of focus. My right eye, it is perfectly clear but still notice the dots slightly. I think it’s how the laser produces the image on the reflector.
 
You're not supposed to focus on the reticle, but on the target and lay the reticle on top. I really don't notice the pixelated appearance of the reticle anymore.

Eh alright, guess i expected more of a 700$ optic, glad i didnt buy a EXPS3, now i would have been really disapointed at that price point. Thanks for everyone input.

The thumbnail on mebius video is spot on, look exactly like this.
 
When I take my glasses off the reticle looks terrible. With them on, I prefer it over any other reticle I've seen on the market. Perhaps its a placebo but the with the clear glass it just looks more natural than a red dot. Everyone's eyes are different
 
Holographic reticles are supposed to look grainy, it's the way they are designed and how they work. It has nothing to do with quality of the optic, recalls, etc.

Also as mentioned already, you should be focusing on your target and not on the reticle when using red dots/holographics.
 
The main reason some people see a grainy or pixilated reticle with true holographic sights is astigmatism. For years I just assumed that all people see the reticle the same way I did until I was comparing reticles with different users and some people thought I was just making up this description as they saw what appeared to be a solid reticle when I saw a fuzzy one. After a little investigation (early internet days) I determined that myself and some other consumers suffered the same eye problems...astigmatism or other related eye issues. Knowing that answered some concerns and questions but it didn't change (for me) how useful the optic was. Phil.
