how similar is the trajectory of the .308 to the 54R ?

my reason for asking is i am looking at a dragunov but in .308 instead of 54R , but i want to get one of the russain scopes with BDC for the 54R , just wondering if it will be effective for the .308 round or if it will be waaaayy off

I would think you could load the 308 to give you a similar ballistic profile to the 54R. What the hell, it would sure be fun to try.
 
i dont load because reloading here is ultra expensive to set up.. its far easier for me to just spend a couple hundred and buy a crate of ammo

instead of the criminal 1200 or so it would cost for half decent reloading gear.

are the ballistic profiles quite different for to two ?
 
we can have AK's and dragunovs .. but they are bastardized ... no flash hider, no bayonet lug, no free standing pistol grip and limited to 7 round mags for semi auto

you also cant bring in a firearm with any of those features wiith intent to modify it to make it NZ legal.. it would have to be NZ legal before importation, and mods need to be irriversable ( the mag limit thing is a grey area though )

I have Russian Tiger 5rd magazines for my dragunov's. They were purpose built in the old USSR for hunting. At one time you could get "target" shells for these guns before "Freedom" hit them.
