thats what cfc told me too, but the seller said he needs the copy of the transfer first.
i allready have my certificate number too.
i just saw this on their website http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/fs-fd/sell-vendre-eng.htm
"The new owner can take physical possession of the firearm as soon as the CFP transfer agent provides them with their new registration certificate number. The registration certificate will then be mailed to the new owner within a few weeks."
I believe that applies to non-restricted.
Just had a transfer approved after 4 weeks in Ontario. We take that apparently...This ought to be a data entry operation and should take about 3 minutes each to do.
Would it be acceptable for it to take that long to switch over a vehicle registration? I've complained to my MPP..I wish more people did that too.
I had a pistol transfered to me this week.
The seller called the CFO (I have no idea what miracle he pulled off getting them to answer thier gd phone). Once they faxed him the transfer, he drove here to drop it off.
I just recieved the registration certificate in the mail, 7 bussiness days after they confirmed the transfer.
Also, I have been trying every day to get a hold of them for an ATT. I need to call Miramichi to get transfered to the Ontario CFO because everytime I call them I get a dial-up tone.
And even when I do get through, I get the voicemail. The message I left last week has still not been answered.
Worst government office in Canada.
Oh and the other restricted transfer I initiated 4 weeks ago has not been transfered yet. You'd think they would have done both at the same time when the other seller called in.
I believe you are mistaken, because you can lend your gun to your friend (assuming he has an RPAL and ATT) if this happens at the club. He has an ATT to transport restricted and prohibited firearms back and forth home/club. The registration certificate does not have your name on it (after you cut it out) and your ATT does not name each of your firearms.
I do not see why it would be illegal.![]()
There is a seperate form "borrowers" form, the lady at the RCMP called it.
What did you think it was going to be easy to find? or the law for once would be clear? lmao.... All i know is i called to make sure it was ok to borrow / try out a friends restricted. I have my att and many restricteds as well.... RCMP told me NO...my att was for my guns only...not anyone elses....but i could get a "borrows" cert. Thats what she called it... doubt thats what its called...but anyway...had to give her ALL of my info and HIS and then where and what times i'd be transporting the firearm...also told me it was only to transfer from his address to my club then back to his address... under no terms does this enable you to be in possesion, besides enroute, of a restricted thats not reg. to you!
Just telling you what i went through only a few months ago. Not sure if its an Ontario thing...
It is both clear and easy to find.
All you need is a short-term Authorization To Transport for the stated purpose of "e) Transport for temporary storage". You just need to use the form. Under "8. Reason for transport (check one only)", check "e) Transport for temporary storage". It will serve to authorize storage at the alternate location for up to one year. Once that firearm is so-authorized, your CFO can add that firearm to your long-term Authorization To Transport (for target shooting).
I believe that applies to non-restricted.
