How the heck do you sling a tavor

I've tried the factory sling.... I didnt like it. I didn't like how it ties on to the gun. Seems cheesy to me.

I went with an Urban ERT sling. It has two ties/disconnectors, so you attach it like the factory sling but can remove it for storage if so desired. It also has a quick detach feature on the front. I can post a picture of my setup later if you want.

I installed a magpul RSA (rail sling attachment) on the picatinny rail. you can see it in the pic, right in front of the rear iron sight. I use a single point sling and just clip it on the RSA... works like a champ!

After watching that video I'd highly recomend a VCAS sling with a MASH hook on the front.

On the rear, use paracord hooked into the sling, BUT insert the paracord on the right hand side of the buttstock if you're a right handed shooter.

This perked my curiosity; what's the benefit? Is this just for the Tavor or something one should look at for a RH setup on other black rifles? (still relatively new to slings, so any tips are always appreciated)

I run it like that on my AR as well.

Same as shown below.

By using it this way it actually keeps the sling perfectly out of your way. Because the rifle lays on it's left side vertically on your chest, and the buttstock end of the sling goes over your right shoulder, when you bring the rifle up it forces the sling to clear the buttpad.

However for TV-Press, if he's going to use my suggestion on the VCAS sling, he'll want to switch shoulders that the sling is slung over. Again this makes the rifle easier to use and doesn't hang as low on the body.

:D

Skip to the 35 second mark on this video to see how it hangs and transitions.

Appreciate the tip, thanks!

I've read you're "first guide to slings" and always feel guilty when I shoulder my Urban ERT "wrong." If I get myself a vickers I'll try doing things the recommended way for once. :D

A couple years ago I made some sling adapters for my Tavor. Loop style and a QD button style. They mounted in the hole on the back of the receiver. I should have made more now that the Tavors are more common.

Thanks again for the tip Darren - tried that setup out on both my Tavor and AR (which has a BlueForce) and it worked great! I'm not a huge guy so I was finding the slings were just a tad too long for me in a 2-point configuration. By flipping the adapter to the opposite side it reduced the slack just enough to fit perfectly (plus the other added benefits you mentioned).

The Magpul MS3 is the sling to have, in combination with the rail attachment that allows you to turn a one point sling into a two point.

Honestly, having drank my fair share of kool-aid - the MS2 and the MS3 just never did it for me. I've never been a fan of 1-point or 3-point slings, for that matter - but here are a few observations:

• The MS3 is designed for the RSA and ASAP. While you can use it with QD adapters, having essentially 2 quick releases and a lock tab for each attachment point is not only redundant - but adds a lot of additional weight. Mounting straight to QD attachment points seems a lot less complicated
• The MS3 is heavier (the D-ring and steel adapters all add up), and I'm not a particular fan of metal parts on my slings as it tends to really ding stuff up.
• The tension/pull-strap for the MS3 has got to be in one of the most awkward positions. On my other slings (Urban-ERT and Blueforce), the tension strap is always closer to my armpit or side. Maybe it's just his build in the video, but having to basically reach up and scratch one's back seems a tad bizarre.

Having tried every (almost?) sling out there, the only two I'll use now are the Urban ERT for anything specialized and the BlueForce for everything else. Glad to hear you're having success with the MS3, though.

Yeah, I love my MS3. I am a bigger guy so the loop is not on my back but rather on my ribs. I tried the BlueForce but I choke myself every time I do shoulder transitions and I hate the feel of sling in my shoulder, when I shoulder the rifle.

I guess it comes to personal preferences and body mechanics.
