Oh, hi there.

My brother recently bought himself a mosin nagant. Thing seems to shoot consistently, surprising because its an old school hex receiver 1926 I believe. Only problem is it consistently shoots to the right.

I take it we need to whip out the ball peen hammer and start pounding away so is there a way of doing it with some finesse?

Yes. A front sight clamp or a brass punch. Or you coul always fire the gun with the bayonet attached. (That was russian doctrine and the reason it has windage issues with out it)
If useing the brass rod and a hammer you may want to use a wood block as the anvil. If the sights are still peened in position it may take a bit of force to break th post loose.

Spray a little WD 40 on there and tap it with a brass hammer or punch. I have a shooter grade mosin and move mine with a steel punch. After a spray of WD40 I was able to move it easily with a steel punch and it didn't leave any mark at all on the site piece.

It's easy and straight forward.

If it shoots to the right, move the front site to the right.

Comrade! You need Soviet Universal Precision Adjustment Tool!

Is called "hammer" by decadent capitalist pigs. Use brass punch (scratch finish on glorious Red Army's property rifle, get sent to penal battalion!). Tap front sight to left until shooting to point of aim. Also be sure to use fake Russian accent to add authenticity!

/fake Russian accent.

But before you do that, yes, do try shooting it with the bayonet on. It does make a noticeable difference, and besides, bayonets (Russian="shtyki") need no justification.

hahah you got it man. Man im gonna look scary at the range, the bayo on that thing looks bloody evil.

Move front sight to right if it shoots to the right.

Do you have a "C" clamp? You can buy Chinese ones for about $1.00

It has a flat foot on each mating surface. Knock one of these feet off, leaving a round steel surface.

Now you have a front sight pushing tool.....
