How to: Bed a Savage 110BA (or similar chassis)(Lots of pics)

Excellent post KOna!

I've bedded numerous savage actions with the barrel nut, barrel and face and sides of the recoil lug free floated and they all have come out to be VERY accurate rifles. My 260Rem in a savage 10 action shoots five into a dime at 100, and a 223 I pillar bedded does the exact same thing with its factory barrel!!

I think you not only did it the hard way, but the SMART way!!

Congratulations on a job well done, and look forward to the range report.

Thanks jon.

I’m starting to get an idea of how much the bedding job improved accuracy. I was confirming my zero and shot a nice tight 100 yard 3 shot group.

First I will post an average from before. 6 – 5 shot groups fired at 320 yards. All the same bullet and powder charge but 3 different seating depths.

These are some load development targets from after bedding. I’m using a new bullet and trying to find a powder charge. 2 groups fired at 324-325 yards, both quite a bit smaller then the pre-bedding groups.

Last is the 3 shot group I fired today when confirming my zero.

I’ll keep the few that may be interested posted on how load development goes.

Thanks.

Thanks for posting - I'm interested in doing a pillar bedding job. Where did you get the Devcon? Only place I can find in Calgary is at Acklands and it is $107. Thanks!

I appreciate the time and effort you put in to this thread K0na_stinky. I don't post much but lurk to learn. If people like you didn't share, there wouldn't be much worth reading.
