Just finished an IPSC match today. I shoot production and all 5 of my mags are the double-stack type with the plastic extension-type base (i.e. one third of the magazine's length is plastic block).
During my "load-and-make-ready" the plastic block just snapped off as I was drawing it out of my pocket. This is the second time the plastic block failed, the first time I was practicing reloads. Luckily it was the last stage of the day and it didn't require 5 mags; but still I can't tolerate the possibility of this happening again during a match.
So before I start canvassing my local dealers, where do you guys buy your hi-cap magazines (that are pinned, blocked, riveted, etc.)?
I'm currently using a SIG Sauer P226 with Mec-Gar 10rd magazines. I'm gonna guess that Mec-Gar didn't design these mags for the rigors of IPSC.
