Hi,

I have a silly question. How to clean a revolver's barrel? I can't run the rod into the barrel from the back, the hammer is blocking the way. Do I have to use a snake?

Thanks.

Clean it from the muzzle end. Don't have to worry about pushing dirt into the action! It's easier if you can remove the cylinder completly and clean it seperatly.

Nothing wrong with cleaning from the muzzle end - you won't damage the crown unless you do something stupid like using a steel brush.

Thanks for the tips.

I watched the AGI video on professional gun cleaning. It is odd that somehow they skipped showing how to clean a revolver's barrel. The instructor show how to clean the cylinder, then just said clean the barrel like semi-auto. The problem is that I can't take the revolover's barrel out.

There are no silly silly questions, hevangel. (Well, maybe a few ;) )
Keep coming back, and welcome aboard.

And you're actually in possession on a hand gun? That's kind of scary.

Cut him some slack savage, he's new here.;):) He may be just worried about damaging the crown......

Seriously... You gotta start somewhere, usually by buying your first piece. Only afterward do you start learning how to clean it.

Not everyone's born with a gun in their hand.

Be sure to clean the cylinder too. I always use a bronze bore brush to keep deposits from building up. You could have trouble fitting a 357 cartridge back in if you shoot a lot of 38spls and don't keep the cylinder clean. Also, a soft tooth brush is good for cleaning the ejector spurs, they can get cruddied up with burnt or what looks like unburnt powder residue. That's a real sensitive area on some revolvers and small changes in clearance can cause the cylinder to hang up and drag.
