finally got my colt python. wondering how to clean especially polish its bright nickel finish.....

heard those metal polish somehow are erosion, can anyone happen to know a proper way or a right stuff to clean the exterior? Thanks。

by the way, $1200.00 for a bright nickel finish 6" Python in Canada is a good deal, is it? the condition is very good. just waiting for my STATT to take it home.

Use a very soft cloth (people use microfiber or really good cotton) and light pressure. Change the area of the cloth that contacts the gun often, since the dirt and dust you pick up will contain abrasives (Flitz doesn't) which can then scratch your lovely gun.

Clean off any powder residue first, of course. That's also great abrasive material to scratch your finish with.

There's also a product called "Never Dull" that I use on my firearms, works really well. It's a treated cotton batting that comes in a blue can. I've seen it for sale at Crappy Tire.

Conservator's Wax (Renaissance Wax) is great stuff as well. Most people recommend it over everything else. I use it on my matte CZ 75. It's less abrasive than flitz and protects better than anything else. It's used in museums.

Never Dull will actually leave micro scratches on the finish. I tried to use it on a Colt Bright Stainless magazine and it scratches the finish on the mag. I wouldn't recommend it.

Go buy yourself a tin of Renaissance Wax. World class museums use it on everything. It will protect your firearm forever. Go look it up. Google it and you'll find it's the best thing you can do for your guns.

When u use a regular gleaning rod, make sure to put a piece of plastic or whatever to protect the surface behind the cylinder and the firing pin hole. Take out the cylinder screw with a correct size screwdriver, carefully.
