How do you guys cast your chambers? Have an antique revolver I need the chamber dimensions for, to come up with an idea of a cartridge to use as a base to resize.

If you have it, use Cerrosafe, a very low melting point metal alloy. If you do not have it, paraffin wax works well but put a piece of string in the chamber to go with it. If the casting breaks, the string keeps it together..

Basically take the cylinder out and block the front end to keep the wax in then pour molten wax in the hole. Push the cast out with a piece of wood or similar

Thanks guys. Trying to find a cartridge to use as the base for a Galand reload. I’ll have to turn some rings to slip over the cartridge to take up the headspace in the back of the cylinder. It’s the thick rimmed one. To many fellas asking questions and picture hunters wasting a lot of time, especially the can I buy ammo for it question) hell no you have to make that stuff yourself do some homework. hauled my add and decided to just shoot it myself. I’ll load with a roundball I think. Back when I got into this you had to make your own ammo, hasn’t changed much lol.
