How to drill flash hider? Reparking a USGI bolt? Does USGI gas wrench fit Norc?

When removing the flash supressor welds on the Norc M14, what angle do you drill the welds at? Do you just drill right through the flash hider (drill bit perpendicular to barrel), drill the welds from the side (drill bit parallel to barrel), or at a certain angle like 45 degrees.

I have a dremel, and a bunch of hand held drills, but no drill press. Will one of these work? Should I spring for the Dremel Press or find someone with a full size drill press?

Also, if I buy a blued USGI bolt, strip the bluing and repark it, will it lose any of it's value?

Hungry here: Value ? Heck no. As long as you do a great job preparing the bolt by stripping off the old finish/colour with Muriatic Acid (Pool supply or Cambodian Tire). Of course, wear safety glasses and appropriate clothing.... I've done many, many bolts this way.

AAAALLSOO, lol will a USGI gas cylinder wrench fit the Norc, or will I need to open it up a bit?

"...a blued USGI bolt..." If it's blued, it isn't military issue. In any case, you don't need to remove the bluing before parkerizing.
I wouldn't use a drill for the welds. I'd use a diamond cutting wheel very, very carefully.

From what I have read, the code on the olt indicates it is USGI by HRT.

Refinishing the bolt won't hurt the value, tons get refished, and every Norc M14 FH I've removed has been silver soldered, not welded, and only needed heating to drive off.

What kind of heating are we talking? Propane torch? Soldering iron held against the FH?

I've always used a propane torch, heating in a fanning motion for 10 secs, then drive free with a brass rod and hammer, if it won't go heat a bit more... etc.
